If you pull the metal clip the entire piece comes out much easier. But make sure the little clip on there is actually holding the two part piece together. And but the aluminum replacement piece for the coolant distribution thingy.
Had the same fucking problem with my coolant reservoir and coolant housing, which is the two parts he’s talking about I had to get them both replaced on my 2017 Buick encore .

Replaced mine with an aftermarket aluminum outlet. OE plastic stuff is garbage.

YUP! Had to have mine replaced last week, along with two hoses. Same make, model, and year. Plastic deterioration in the housing.
