Thanks for a great video — clear and detailed shots, good instruction! I
actually have a problem whereby I got the canvas handle of a tool bag
caught in the latch when I closed the liftgate and was looking for a way to
get at the latch to free it up. The liftgate pops when I hit the switch
but doesn’t open. I considered cutting the handle and try to pull it
through but it won’t budge. I think I’ll try your method to remove the
inside panel and see if this helps. Again, great video.

Rich Bund says:

Have to thank you for this excellent video on the steps to take. I scoured
the web and found nothing. Of course, I was searching for rear hatch
instead of liftgate which is what I did finally and found your video. Could
not have done it without your instructions. When I did replace the
actuator, it only took all of 15 to 20 minutes from beginning to end. I
could have saved some money buying online, but I didn’t have the part
number and the local Ford dealer had one that I could pick up right away…
$158.00 …(online best price: $102.00) part#: 9L8Z-7843150-B… For a 2009
Ford Escape Hybrid
Thanks again!

Thanks a million for your help. This was exactly the right fix for my car
and you made it super simple for all to do/understand.

Toonses says:

Wow the customer still leave all their junks in the trunk not bothering to
clean up for the auto repair guy. I would never be that inconsiderate.

The 2012 escape that work provides me leaks like crazy inside the back
window. Funny how the wifes 2011 has never leaked a drop.

bluetempelton says:

So my 2009 Ford Escape Liftgate and the window will randomly not work. If
I put the key in and turn the alternator on and off then go try again the 2
switches will work!!! ??? Any ideas.

Mann Pea says:

Anyone knows what screws I could buy to replace for the panels for a Ford
Escape 2003? Got the panel but no screws that came with it.

Richard Diaz says:

MOST USEFUL VIDEO! i had the same problem on my 2010 Mazda tribute
liftgate, sometimes it would work sometimes it doesnt. since i know that
the escape and tribute are almost identical i figure this video would apply
to my car.
my only question now is would the same liftgate replacement part fit in a
tribute?

Kurt Burmeister says:

This video helped me fix my daughter’s 2009 Escape without any surprises.
Very thorough! Could you do one about replacing the liftgate glass seal,
too?

Harry Alleva says:

I also want to thank you for the well made video and step by step
instructions. You undoubtedly saved me a few hundred dollars in repair work
at the dealer. Thank you once again.

Jeff Beck says:

Thank you for this!!! :)

+FordTechMakuloco thank you for your vids! Do you know of a problem with
the 2010 expedition el 2wd ac system that would cause the condenser fans to
run for about 30 sec and then shut off for about 20 sec before turning on
again. the compressor keeps running with the fans off. once the veh reaches
normal op temp both fans run normaly. i had the system evac and refilled
recently at a shop and it takes a long time for the veh to cool

Don Hanson says:

I am wondering did they make a replacement seal for that back glass

Sheryl Scott says:

what is the part number for the actuator

Billy Bob says:

Nice Video. Have you ever considered a set of LoadPro Leads for your Multi
Meter to load test the circuit? I’ve had a set for about 18 months and
really saves me time.

jtugfestiva says:

I work at a ford dealership too and your videos has helped me many times
with the cars that come in. It saves me a bunch of time.

sunbow45 says:

Brian, would you let me know the part number of the new weather stripping?
I own a 2008 Ford Escape and have similar issues. Thank you in advance.

Bob Davies says:

This video did right by me. Thank you.

LCCharlie says:

Brian, how long have you had your Bosch drill, and is that the original
battery?

Murray MacDonald says:

i had the same problem and replaced the full hatch assembly. It is still
not working. I thought it might be the button, so I connected the window
hatch to the door hatch switch and the window worked, so I am assuming it
works. I even cut the wire to the button and tried touching them together
to ensure it wasn’t the connector. It didn’t work. However with a volt
meter, I am getting a reading, so am again assuming power is good. Any
iideas?
