Just got done with this repair & it worked like a charm. Took me almost as long to go to Radio Shack for the resistors as it did to make the repair. As a bonus installed a new stereo head unit while the dash was apart.

Thanks for the video, especially the dash removal details which some of the other videos don’t show. It made the job easier & probably prevent some clip breakage.

I decided to try and fix my own odometer, I’ve been laid off so $ tight. I thank you for posting this video. I’ve never done anything like this before. It took me approx. 2 hours. Not bad for a newbie!

By the way…. It was MY first time soldering as well. And the project only cost me 12 bucks for solder, solder gun and resistors, compared to the $260-$600 that everyone else wanted to fix it. Thank you again!

I just want to say THANK YOU! This video was AWESOME. Because of it,I was able to successfully fix my cluster and get the odometer reading and get it passed for inspection. Thank you. 2003 Buick regal GS

You’re welcome Dongying Chen. Thanks for watching, liking and favorting my video. Glad it helped.

Just wanner say thank you very much for your uploading. Following this video I repaired my 2002 Buick Regal odometer successfully.

MrMnmn911 says:

That’s great Michael. So glad it worked and my video helped you out. You saved quite a bit of money and it’s always cool knowing you did it yourself. Thanks for watching, commenting and liking.

Michael McKallip says:

I picked up the resistors from my local Radio Shack. That night i ripped into it just as you described in your video. One of the resistors was missing out of the 4, i touched the others with my finger tip and they all fell off. Soldered on the new ones and its back on. Thanks again.

I don’t believe the poster should be to blame for someone attempting this repair without the proper skill set. It is a very good video, and anyone should be able to see what it would take by just watching it. If you are not capable of doing something, don’t do it. Plain and simple.

Great video though. I would agree that it is not for a novice, but with proper care (and some previous solder experience) some should be able to pull this off.

Thanks for posting your comment Ann dernn. Hopefully other viewers will read your comment and learn from my mistake in not making plain that “I am not a professional and that you should NOT try this at home, if YOU are not a professional”. So sorry to hear that you damaged your circuit board. Thanks for the thumbs down.

Ann dernn says:

now installed different ($100) cluster with 10,000 more miles than my other working one . Your video should have a few notes of difficulty and/or causes of damaging- burn or tear board via hot resistors or moving resistors into place ….Thank you for your time.

Ann dernn says:

Felt inclined to comment I attempted thus as your video shows it to be a easy fix.;(You also say you have never soldered or at least something to that effect.) Anyway, long story short doing what you say I was not able to do this properly and damaged the circuit board as it is a VERY delicate job . Just a little did damage. JUST WISH YOU SAY A FEW times that you highly advise thus job done with supervision due to smallest errors can easily damage the circuit board. ca

Keep us posted on the PRNDL Michael McKallip. Thanks for watching and liking.

MrMnmn911 says:

I don’t know. But, if they’re good why change them? But I guess that would be cool.

bigrick903 says:

might as well change the bulbs to leds also huh?

pfregs says:

Thank you, I followed your video and my PRND & odometer are working again. I was given a $500 estimate to fix this problem. Cost less then 2 bucks. Thanks!

Michael McKallip says:

Great video, i just picked up a 2002 buick century with the PRND321/odom out. We were using the odometer because the fuel gauge is pegged on full due to a faulty fuel sender in the tank. I will pick up some resistors next time i’m near a radio shack.

You’re welcome Alexandera Tolbert. Thanks for liking and commenting. So glad my video helped.

Alexandera Tolbert says:

This is a wonderful video! It is the only one that I have seen that has designated the size of the resistors as well as what is best for the soldering. I am not a mechanic and have never soldered before so it was a new language to me. Super helpful!!

MrMnmn911 says:

You’re welcome DMN13579. Glad to hear my video helped you fix you’re wife’s 2003 Regal. Thanks for watching, liking and commenting.

DMN13579 says:

Thanks for taking the time to video and share, just fixed my wife’s 2003 Regal Cluster. Watched yours and a few other videos. Hardest part is getting the cluster out without breaking the trim on a 10yr old car. Probably not the best soldering job but hopefully good enough to last the life of the car.

MrMnmn911 says:

So sorry to hear this did not work on your 2003 Buick Century Aura Black. This worked fantastic on my 2003 Buick Century. Other commentators have said this worked fantastic on their 2003 Buick Century. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Aura Black says:

yeah i used the same resistors in this video and soldered them on it worked for about 15 minutes then cluster got really hot at the resistors now the whole thing is screwed thanks for nothing should know what your talking about before giving advice

MrMnmn911 says:

Thanks for watching, liking and commenting Doug Kellam. :o)

MrMnmn911 says:

Wow! I don’t know why the odom prndl is horizontal. I don’t think the bulbs or resistors have any affect on the PRNDL and odometer.

MrMnmn911 says:

Sorry brdprtl06. I checked around for the bulbs too, just in case I ever needed to replace them. I could not see an number nor find one anywhere on the internet.

Thanks for watching and commenting brdptrl06.
