How the hell did you get the ring off??? I need to replace my sending unit
and I beat on that damn thing for an hour and it didn’t budge. I’m
considering taking it to a shop so they can hit it with an air hammer.

jlrmywork says:

+Uncle Slayton , I used a really thick flat head screw driver to get it off
and used a socket wrench to smack the screw driver counter clock wise to
get it off. I’m not gonna lie man, it took me 35 minutes to remove that
damn thing. For a minute I though that ring was welded on. Hope this info
helps and remember to replace your gasket ring as the one you have there
may be a bit dried out. Mine was so I got a replacement on ebay for like 5
bucks.

@Frank Sanchez, hi glad you took a look at my video. The way I got the pump
motor off was by using a blow dryer to heat up the pipe that sucks in the
fuel from the tank and loosen it up, but even after I did all this work my
fuel pump only workes for like a week and then gave out, I ended up buying
an OEM fuel pump off ebay for 350 bucks. Hope this info helps. On my pump
that was all that was pretty much holding everything together.

TheTexasCoder says:

Great job man! There should be three springs, the common issues with pumps
is they burn out. The fuel actually lubricates the pump, so if the sump is
low on fuel, or that strainer screen is clogged, it will kill a pump FAST.
I am looking forward to the rebuild! Before you put it back in the tank,
double check your power wires and make sure voltage is getting back there
when you turn the key on.

@geeegeee, thanks 😉

those tiny little teeth on the fuel sending unit corode over time and break
off leading to loss of contact with the metalic surface and you gas gauge
goes haywire

jlrmywork says:

thank man, i should be getting the kit on friday so as soon as i get it ill
be making a new video of the fuel pump rebuild 🙂 i tested the old fuel
pump with power and it was just pulsing but with struggle. so it was bad,
as for fuel pressure there was none, i couldnt belive that only a drop of
gas came out from the fuel pressure line.

jlrmywork says:

cool, thanks for letting me know 🙂

Frank Sanchez says:

I just saw your video & I have a question. How do you disassemble the
assembly to be able to remove the actual pump from the assembly? I’m
actually working on replacing the pump on my van right now & I can’t figure
out how to remove the pump from the assembly. The reason I’m going this
route is because it’s cheaper to buy just the pump than the entire assembly
complete, we’re not going to keep this van for very much longer & I’d hate
to buy a more expensive pump if we’re going to trade the van.
