Charlton Stanley says:

Thanks for the video man! I have a 1994 Buick Lesabre that looks exactly like this setup. At least this will give me a bit of an idea as how to approach the situation.

Opal Beckworth says:

barnabyray says:

me and my mom had a 1994 buick century and it kept getting stolen, all they did was pop the passanger door lock out and broke the steering column shaft and started it with a screwdriver…. was stolen twice and that was my xmas present last year. a car thats totaled by a black pussy. and you people wonder why people are racist.

lemkelegion says:

i have a 1984 bronco 2 and i cant get the ignition cylinder out even with key in the ignition i knew how take it out but it did not come out

Scott R says:

also put tape on clockspring so it wont unwind.

Scott R says:

dont remove the key buzzer- just take a screwdriver and and hit with hammer to break off white tab that’s in the way of the screw

TOB4YA says:

The clockspring is ONLY an electrical conductor to the airbag, airbag will not deploy untill car crash deploys 2 other sensors, sending electrical current to airbag, a broken or damaged spring will only cause bag not to work if in crash…you did it right, because your wheels were straight.. next time look on back of spring, you will see the locking spring lever that holds spring in position.
as a locksmith, I have removed dozens of airbags with battery connected, just dont have static in fingers

craig1974 says:

I reset the clock spring, and the airbag has not deployed yet in over a year.

TOB4YA says:

When removing clockspring, tilt wheel down.
PULL CLOCKSPRING STRAIGHT OUT AND OVER POST,,(DO NOT MESS WITH IT) IT HAS A LOCKING ARM ON BOTTOM THAT WILL KEEP IT IN THE SPOT IT WAS WHEN REMOVED. if your wheel were turned ,when you recentered spring? oops

Justin Morgan says:

I have this exact car and had to replace my turn signal switch. This video told me everything I needed to know, thanks a lot, you saved me some money.

Cameron Pigott says:

i believe so i have a 90 deville mines just ceased up on me i had to disconnect the battery. thank god the ignition switch is cheap. now i have the same prob.

DevaJones03 says:

more than likely it is very similar cuz i have a 89 seville. i know mine is giving m hell to take off.

yourface5666 says:

is this the same process to remove the lock cylinder on an 89 cadillac deville?

craig1974 says:

If you have the small block V8 in that Chevy i would upgrade the timing chain because the cam gears had teflon teeth which wear down in a short time.

craig1974 says:

Most older GM steering column’s up until 1995 were very similar. The only change on the newer models was the wiper switch on the signal arm. The job sounds complicated at first, but once you get skilled at it the job is easy as pie. The biggest pain is removing the snap ring on the lock plate, but you have to have a lock plate remover to compress the lock plate down. If you rebend the snap ring, and think its distorted dont worry about it when reinstallating. Good luck!

REBEL2250 says:

thanks very much for this vid! i’ve been trying to figure out how to pull the ignition lock out of my 84 chevy c10 for a while now!

XrideburtonX says:

Franklin Ladislau says:

Thanks for that !

I had my airbag deploed and I didn’t know how to reset it !

craig1974 says:

I tried that, but never worked.

hotmod says:

hotmod says:

ever hear of wd 40?

newyorkdude99 says:

good job i have a 93 3300V6 that currently has 85k that wouldn’t start when hot, it still won’t but i wired in a button. i hope its good in the snow they seem to be solid cars. i did my alternator in like 20 minutes this morning

craig1974 says:

Yours is not hard because it has no airbag. The job may sound complicated, but after awhile you get skilled at it.

Ajaces says:

Cool, I like seeing videos like this.

bobfather99 says:

Its good that youre careful working around that airbag.

Nice Buick, my neighbor still has his ’93, with over 200k.

craig1974 says:

Its got 90,000 miles on it, and i owned it since 2001 when it had 39,000 miles on it. When i got the car it was mint with no rust. Now it has a few rust areas here, and there. A guy sold it to me because his mother in law had alzheimers.

gasman7777 says:

nice car! how many miles ya got on it? looks really clean!

craig1974 says:

It already did work out. I drove the car to Papa Murphys to get a pizza.
