+olaf2046 I have a BMW 330Ci ZHP 2006 , this don’t work for me.
Work this for 2006 e46 ?

stevostyles1 says:

Always 14.4v while running without any lights or radio or anything plugged
in i bet if you turned them lights off it would be closer to 14.1 so still
ok just keep an eye on it every month.

homer simpson says:

14.5 is normal at 2000rpm. That’s the voltage coming off the alternator, so
lower rpm =lower output voltage.

can someone help me please..i have a 2001 740il e38…i am trying to test

Why isn’t Briggs and stratton using dual overhead cams?

olaf2046 says:

I’m not sure. Why don’t you pay your local BMW Dealership $125 and hour to
tell you what they are “sure” off. That is if they will even bother with
you. I got you this far but if you want to find specific answers GOOGLE is
your friend. I’m not going to hold your hand every step of the way. Learn
to GOOGLE my friend and ye shall be sure.

flomans says:

try turning your lights off!

SAJ@TV says:

very helpfull video really is.. thanks for upload man.. you are a star…..
i got a question bro… do you know where is the alternator wire in bmw
320d 3 series? that is coming to battery? is it also passing through trunk
by any chance? actually i am installing secondry battery and a split
charging replay switch. i am looking for a 12v ignition wire. which only
powers when we twist/cycle the key twice. not once. by any chance is that
wire somewhere in trunk too? please help. many thanks.

BimmersGarage says:

Hey glad you’re back up and running at least. Get those new belts and
tensioner pulley installed soon, my friend. FYI, to RUN the cluster light
and dials test, you did everything right, but you needed to hit that
mileage button one more time to Active the testing.

olaf2046 says:

@whatthehallbetch yeah it’s pretty cool. Sorry for snapping at you. The E46
is a really good DIY friendly car unlike the newer BMWs which are all
electronic and dealership needy cars for everything that goes wrong. I saw
you did your Water Pump. How was it? I need to do mine next spring when the
weather warms up. Cheers.

icechelsea1 says:

@olaf2046 I’ve read that the tamper dot indicates that the mileage I can
read is different to the real mileage. Is there any way to read that REAL
mileage that is supposed to be recorded in the ECU?

olaf2046 says:

@dondipa nope. I bought it from the original owner in 2008 (a 70 year old
retired surgeon) out in Long Island. He did nothing to the car other than
basic maintanence. The thing was brand spanking new when I got. In the 2-3
years of me owning the car I put more miles and dents on it than the 6-7
years the first owner had it. sad but true. But the car has gotten some
nice OEM upgrades under my care.

Mousehouse92 says:

You went to 18 didn’t you? Thats security lock-out test mode. To fix it
just reverse your battery terminals. 🙂

JennyFarley says:

thanks for vid helpful

olaf2046 says:

@goldBCFC Not sure ifyou are referring to me but I’m not Asian or East
Indian. Also there is nothing wrong with my odometer or mileage. My car had
geniunely low mileage when I bought it. BMW’s have the tamper dot that only
the dealership (or someone with BMW software and hardware) can remove if
the odometer has been tampered with. Also I never claim in any of my videos
to be a mechanic or car expert. Other than this BMW and the 2010 C300 my
girlfriend has I claim no knowledge of other cars.

Hey, are you Brazilian? thought you were until I hear your radio. Now I’m

Maxima M says:

very helpfull video thx !

kadett1989 says:

@olaf2046 Thx to your reply. But it seems that battery is ok because i`ve
turned on my engine to charge a battery and now obc shows about 12.6V. I am
looking for something else…

olaf2046 says:

@bmw4ever55 I added the OBC menu list to the video description. Just click
the “show more”. I swore I had it there before (scratching my head). and it
was 9.0 to test the battery. 9.0 – 140 Battery Voltage – 140 = UB 14.0v

olaf2046 says:

You can unplug the car battery and it will go back to zero or you can just
push in the little stalk there to reset it,

kadett1989 says:

I have some problems with my factory alarm in my e39 and somebody told me
it could be the battery. I checked as you in your vid and my voltage when
the engine is off is 12.4-12.5 some say it could be at least 12.6 hence do
you think it can cause problems with alarm and do i need to change battery?

firebirdjimbo says:

Oh, lol. I was hoping there was a way to turn it on with my 5 speed.

Frederick Wiedmer says:

13.8 is perfect dude 14.7 is way too high,

Joe Freeman says:

that is what the alternator is giving out. a little low. when you turn the
engine off thats what charge the battery is holding, again alittle low and
will only let you down when the winter comes and it freezes

olaf2046 says:

@whatthehallbetch typical class of 2012 noob (facepalm). Uhm…the point of
this is that unlocking the car computer gives you lots of diagnosis and
real time information about the car so you don’t have to go to the BMW
Dealership and pay them $125 an hour to tell you that you need a new
battery. Unlocking also gives you other IMPORTANT information like coolant
temperature, engine and oil temperature, voltage values at different points
of the car, exact numerical values for fluid levels…

Alexey Fadeev says:

а по-русски мне кто нибудь скажет что именно он сказал?)

Noble Mulhall says:

whats the point of this

olaf2046 says:

I think you mean the odometer counter?

firebirdjimbo says:

how did you get it to tell you what gear you’re in?

olaf2046 says:

Hey Ana, Yes you can. Either the Service Engine Soon light turns off on
it’s own after you drive the car for a bit or you can get a PA Soft BMW
Scanner (about $30 – $50) to reset it yourself. I will actually make a
video this week on how to reset the lamp with the PA Soft Scanner.

miut1983 says:

@63B1stmaint if your immobiliser is not allowing car to start it’s either
your key’s transponder (little chip inside of the key) or your car’s ecu
(Engine control unit) what basically is a main car’s computer. You should
plug in your car to diagnostic tools via obd2 and do the readings. Your
key’s transponder need programming or ecu has to be reset or if worse comes
to worst you will need new ecu. When you buy ecu like second hand one you
have to buy it with car keys as it’s matched with ecu

Nick Galavodas says:

If the battery shows 14 volts dc its ok. The best way to really check the
voltages is by using a digiatal volt meter and probe to + and – and whilst
on or off and that will give you a better idea of the voltages of the
battery. If the battery is new, get one according to specs of your car or
higher.

broniek666 says:

I’m Not sure, I’m not sure and I’m not sure 😀 But thx for that.

criscblue11 says:

whats the alternator code since the battery is 9

JCruzify1 says:

How do you get it in to test mode? Witch button do I hit. You didn’t
explain how to get there.

olaf2046 says:

It does it automatically. lol. get it auto-matically

Noble Mulhall says:

@olaf2046 well, i was wondering what the point was, i just didnt realize
that you could check your fluid levels and have it as a rev counter and
other handy features

olaf2046 says:

from 2001 to 2006 years M3 cars.

don dipa says:

you sure its not a clocked car? i buyed at 2002 bmw e46 at 76k miles then
checked on a online m.o.t and realised it had done 100k back in 2008!
