This BMW Had The Strangest Problem. Huge Misfire Fix!

In this video we diagnose and save a N55 that was experiencing a dramatic misfire issue. The issue was so bad that the car was sent to auction as it stumped a number of people.

Before jumping into the diagnostics we use a scope to do a relative compression test on the engine to ensure its healthy. We demonstrate that in this video and discuss the benefits.

This is a 2011 F10 535i with the N55 engine. I recently bought it from an auction and am in the process of fixing it up before selling it.

The problem this engine had was very obscure and should be interesting for a lot of viewers.

If this is the first video you are catching of mine please consider subscribing. I upload regularly.

Thanks for watching 🙂

In the next video in the series of restoring this 5 Series BMW we will tackle the paint.

Special Thanks to Joel from Rolley Motorsports for coming out.

My father-in-law owns a used car dealer here in CA and I buy BMW's from Manheim using his dealer line of credit and sell them privately. How are you buying auction BMW's ??

Loving this new style better.

Would that relative compression test work for an n54? I’m planning to mod my new high mileage n54 but I wanna know if it has any engine problems first.

BimmerHausPerformance says:

Link to the tool used to check the ‘compression’

Billy Johnson says:

If one was to simply replace both vanos solenoids with the correct units (Genuine BMW) could you just drive off and let them self adapt or is resetting via ISTA required?

Thx
