Very good video, I immediately was able to change the hood shocks on my
330ci with no problem
i have a 325i sedan and every time i check eBay for the struts it only come
up with coupe and says they dont fit the sedans is this true or are they
the same
Used this on my E36, worked great.
@megamanxtc The clips may not be exactly the same, but will be similar.
How does one compress the strut so it will fit?
Your welcome! Be sure to check us out next time you need parts, too.
Great info. After watched the video, I replaced my hood struts with ease;
different clips but same principle.
Thank you, was going to try to attempt this after work, with little
daylight…I will complete in the morning.
Thanks! You weren’t kidding about the clips. I broke two of them.
Thanks for this video. Used it to replace my Alpina B3 struts. Hope you
don’t mind I’ve linked to your video from my site b3alpina.com. Jim

Thanks Heaps ….from Australia !!
Thanks for this video. Are the hood struts and clips the same on newer
model BMWs?
can you do a vide puting it to bmw e39?
Be careful when you do this – I did it on my trunk. You will be amazed how
heavy that trunk slams down with no dampers on it. It can easily slice your
fingers off. Make sure you have a spare 2×4 to keep it propped open as you
work.
Thanks for the vid bro! I ordered struts for the trunk of my 98 M3. The
trunk struts work pretty much the same way as the hood struts you’re
demonstrating for anybody interested in that info. I couldn’t find a vid
specific to my trunk struts but this one did the job just fine. With your
help it took me five minutes to change both struts without breaking
anything! Thanks for taking the time to post this DIY.
Thanks…was very useful to see how to remove the clip ahead of time.
i just change the hood shocks on my car thanx to you 🙂
No way lol this took me 3mins to replace thanks so much!
Thanks. I couldn’t figure out how the clip was supposed to work.
