In this video, we explain how to start a Remote Software Upgrade.
The Remote Software Upgrade is a safe and easy way to upgrade your BMWs software over the air, just like on your smartphone. It provides new functions, enhancements or quality improvements.
When turning off the engine, your BMW will ask you to perform the Remote Software Upgrade.
Please make sure, that your vehicle is parked safe and will not be used in the next 20 minutes.
To install the upgrade, please follow the instructions on the control display.

Remote Software Update is missing in my car (Car-Setting-General settings), I have a BMW 530e from 2020, what to do?
Yeah, I question the German software engineering ability. My experience is that the car will display things like "Parking Break malfunction" when the camera for lane departure needs callibration.
My worst experience, which I am dealing with right now, is when a remote software upgrade fails. It completely bricks the car, you can't pop it in neutral. Making working with BMW roadside assistance fun….currently waiting on the 3rd tow truck driver to figure out how to get my bricked 2020 X% out of the garage.
AND UNLIKE Tesla, they will not dispatch a technician to your house when their software upgrade fails. THEY HAVE to insist they tow the vehicle back to their shop, for liability reasons of course.
Wow interessiert nur die Leasingkunden. Kunden die ihr bmw 2019 gekauft haben mit Vollaustattung F34 stehen schon mit ihrem auto alt da! Lächerlich. Niewieder BMW. 34.000 eur für Müllsoftware!!!!!
Hello BMW, I have BMW G20 still with 11/2019.70. I'm unable to find new update in the car. After I have called through my car on support, they said me, that I have to go to the service and do uptade manually(isn't possible do it over air wtf). In my BMW service didn't know about software update anything, so I'm right now lost with old software in my car. It's really bad product and support!!

Can you download the software update on the vehicle itself? Or it has to be from the phone / usbs stick?
Yesterday I got the point of performing the update but I selected "Perform upgrade later" (twice) because I could not stop for long and got home late so decided to do it today. Now it doesn`t give me the option of launching the update anymore. It only says it`s ready and it will tell me "later" when it can be launched…..but it never happens….is there a normal delay before it will allow it again? Any way to trigger it? I have no error message….just the normal message that it`s there, fully loaded…but can`t launch it, even when I arrive, park and turn the engine off. Any idea?

absolutely non sense. the operating requirements state that the outside temperature needs to be above 10 degrees !! (why? and if i live in a cold country?) but the car engine needs to be cold!? the upload to the car from the phone works only via wifi (not cable) but the car needs to be running?! but the upgrade itself needs the car to be stopped? please make up your mind and review this process much cheaper car works way easier and better

Wow, so cool! … Except the exact number of updates you've released ever since the inception of the service is: ZERO. It's been 7 months(!) on my brand new 330e and no updates have ever been received so far. When will you actually start releasing updates?
For context, the Model 3 receives an update every 7.5 days on average. I'll probably switch to a Model 3 instead of the upcoming i4 for this reason ALONE. Unless you get your act together till then.

So! My brand new G01 X3 M40i (MY20) with iDrive 7.0 doesn’t appear to have this. Is this feature not available on a brand new UK X3?
