Front Control Arm Bushing (Polyurethane) Replacement BMW 325i e46

The bushings I put on in the Spring are already bad. You get what you pay for lol. These new bushings were twice the price, but well worth it. My DSC lights …

I saw those bushings at bavarian, the sell good stuff thereο»Ώ

tacoxdude says:

Did you have to touch the ball joints to get the control arm low enough to
put the 3 jaw puller on the bushing?ο»Ώ

EdzGarage says:

In my case I paid $100.

EdzGarage says:

I used a 3 jaw puller. I don’t remember what brand of bushing or where I
bought them. It was an online retailer though.

Hey Ed, I’m still new to the DIY life so sorry if these are bonehead
questions. 1.) What is that tool you used to pull your bushings off the
control arm? 2.) Which brand bushings did you buy and from where? Btw video
is great!

Michael Scott says:

Hey there! Thanks for that great video. So, if “twice” the price is the
price to pay in order to get “good ones”…….how much IS that? (Don’t
wanna make the same mistake myself…but have no idea how much I should be
spending on these.) Thanks for any info. Mike

Great demonstration, I have to replace mine and so many people have said
good luck in doing that…..well you’ve made it look so easy. When I’ve
done it I’ll let you know the outcome. Again thankyou for spending the time
to do this πŸ™‚

EdzGarage says:

@cbr900rr919 Agreed!

Nick Lopez says:

@edzgarage – Thanks so much! I’ll check it out.

liltank1222 says:

@edzgarage did you by chance get those from ECS Tuning?

Matthew Brown says:

@edzgarage Ed, thanks for the quick response. Fyi, the poly bushings (I’m
an mech engineer) probably translate more “road feel” to the car, but will
probably last much longer and handle more impact. Segment suggestions for
the e46: Sedan rear doors leak (bad sealant on the moisture barrier),
plastic water impeller dies early, thermal cycling causes premature
radiator failure (plastic sides adjoined to aluminum heat sink), and
overactive abs if not flushed yearly dies early. Regards. Matt

I just replaced my CAB with urethane ones and that was a big mistake! $110
down the drain. The car sounded like a horse-drawn carriage with bad leaf
springs. I was told the noise would eventually disappear after a week or
two. It’s been a month now and that annoying noise isn’t about to
disappear. I don’t even know how this item can stay in the market. Just a
big disappointment!

EdzGarage says:

@BMWPOWERization Thanks for the info. I hope my vid was of some help to
you. Thanks for watching…? I already have a K&N filter.

EdzGarage says:

@manfredmann I found them on eBay.

KBFF says:

How did you lift the front to accommodate the jack stands? You would think
bmw would be nice and put a jack point in the front of the engine.

EdzGarage says:

@gtfynest21 The control arm bushing were on sale for $79, they were
normally $99 for the pair.

EdzGarage says:

@oscarv362370 If it gets worse when you apply the brakes, it’s probably
your control arm bushings.

bobatporty says:

good informatative video, good editing shows what we need to know, thanks

EdzGarage says:

Thanks for watching!

EdzGarage says:

No problems at all.

xDLXSFx says:

Do you have to do an alignment after replacing those bushings?

theend0101 says:

where did you get those bushings?

EdzGarage says:

@email678 You don’t have to, but it sure makes the job a lot easier.

leaveatrail9256 says:

Thanks Ed! I have a clanking sound that happens whenever I go through any
small bumps/uneven surface. Could this be the problem?

EdzGarage says:

@warcrypt It is a 3 jaw puller. You can usually buy them in a kit that
includes 3 sizes from Harbor Freight.

Knight31684 says:

what kind of car?

EdzGarage says:

I just used a 3 jaw gear puller. You can get them at any auto parts store.
