I am very pleased indeed to have watched your video – i now have the knowledge to help me change my brakes. many thanks. you guys do a great job and help people save hundreds of £.

Billy Grasso says:

How many miles did you have on the e46 during this video? Video was great helped me a ton

MrNeilg71 says:

All good .I relieved the tension on the parking brake, and it came off. All discs / pads fitted and working. Thanks Ed.

Sabrina Perez says:

What brand is the electronic sensor? Where can I find that? I found the evolution brand brakes but they don’t come with the sensor… from what I’m reading.. HELP 🙂

EdzGarage says:

My car was an automatic and I never used the e-brake. Sounds like your e-brake is either malfunctioning or you need to relieve the tension on the cable.

EdzGarage says:

It goes back into the reservoir where it came from.

rodwynnejones says:

Question,
what happens to the displaced brake fluid when you push the piston back into the calliper? I’ve always assumed (and read) you need to open the bleed screw.

MrNeilg71 says:

Just struggling to take off the rear brake disc on my E30 325i; finally with a little help from my rubber mallet it did start to come off, but the parking brake mechanism was attached to the rear of the old disc. The parking brake is off – any advice? Thanks for the great video – without it, I wouldn’t have got this far!

DEATHWISHONU says:

How do you clip on the front brake pads?

EdzGarage says:

Thanks for the comment and for watching!

Great video! Nice lighting, camera angle, and good instruction.

Thanks for the comment!

EdzGarage says:

Sorry Buddy. I don’t have a list of tools handy. If you watch the video I mention all the tools. As for the Allen size, it’s a metric and it was included in an Allen set, so if you have a set you probably have it.

elberth orozco says:

If your brake light came on it means the circuit in the brake sensor is broken and it needs to be replaced. If the light never came on in your dashboard it means your sensor still good and it can be re-used. To reset the light in your dashboard: with your engine off,put your key in the ignition and turn it to number two (without turning the engine on) and wait about thirty seconds, the light in your dashboard should clear…

James Douglas says:

Sorry for basic question but what are all the ‘tools’ required? Need to know the size of the allen bolts and such? I will need to be sure I have everything before I start! Love this video and seems like I can literally save over $1000 + from what the estimates I have gotten to date. Thanks again!

EdzGarage says:

Not sure, I’ve heard the light will go off if the sensor is good.

Ash Fahimi says:

thanks very much for reply.. replaced all around discs and pads, my old rear pads were still ok had about %40 left on them so that didnt trigger the light to go on ,my front was gone so i did replace the pads and also my sensor but the light still is on ,,does it goes away after i drive it for some time or do i have to use OBD to turn it off or what do you think?

EdzGarage says:

If the light is ON the sensors need to be replaced. They are one time use and cannot be reused. You may only need to replace one… probably the front.

Ash Fahimi says:

Excellent show ,very detailed,, thanks very much
if the light comes on that mean its time to change the pads so do i have to replace the sensor or can i use the old one ? bcoz now my light just came on and i just want to change the pads and the discs.. i mean does the light goes off after i replace with new pads?or do i have to change the sesore as well?

EdzGarage says:

No, only if the old ones are worn and the light is on.

EdzGarage says:

You can replace the sensors pretty easily at any time.

unitcount503 says:

Do you need to buy a sensor in every break change?

Michael Scott says:

Excellent video…..great camera angles, good lighting and thorough description of all the required steps…complete with a few helpful tips (e.g. forget about the emerg brake if you never use it!)
Just wondered if there’s any problem installing new sensors a few weeks (or months) after doing a pad job. (I didn’t have them on hand at the time….but I DO want to put them on……just to get rid of that yellow light on the dash if nothing else.)
