Fixing BMW Fuel Pump Issues DIY – E53 Rescue

Welcome to the beginning of the E53 Project! This poor vehicle has been sitting for about 3 years because I basically thought it had busted timing chain guides which is a huge job and I was putting it off because I had other stuff going on in my life, but now it’s time to get this vehicle going. Before we jump right into the timing chain project, we first let’s properly diagnose exactly what is causing the no-start issue…

quite a job you did….From Chile I´ve been watching your videos, following step by step….i got a bmw 530i 2004, and did all my work trhough your videos as a begginer, i`m at the point where checking my car i will let you know later how did go. the issue was bad starter and had to open the manyfold and found where the starter was…

Alvaro MASTER Beas says:

I had a similar problem, but for me the fuel pump was fine, but the white(positive) cable does not have signal, and I was in the middle of BAJA, without cel signal, so I just get a piece of cable and connect to the white pumps( +)wire and the other end connected to a fuse on the rear fuse compartment. problem solved I made it to San Diego after 8 hours, without turning engine off

Jean Davidse says:

I have a E46 381i and this car had 2 fuel tanks and the main tank that has the fuel pump in keeps running dry and the car dies. The other side of the tank does not pump the fuel back to the mail side… Yet the fuel level sensor is fine as it does show that I have fuel in the tank. Help please

Tony Fox says:

Brown never power on a BMW

tempest411 says:

??? When you initially found voltage at the white wire (brown is usually ground on German cars) that proved that everything about the relay was working.

Andrew White says:

Another quality video. BRAVO

paul gilliland says:

Cool video I like those style clamps. As an observation you need to leave at least 1.5 to 2mm between the ears when using Oetiker style clamps . Essentially you over tighten them otherwise. Cheers
