The E39 is an amazing car, one of BMW’s best. However, it has it’s weaknesses, and the window regulators are one of them. They suck. When I bought the car, all four were bad, and I have replaced or repaired all of them at least once since then. Make sure you buy from a seller with some sort of warranty. Usually, if its a bad one, it will fail pretty quickly.

In part 1, I’ll show you how to replace the front window’s regulator. It’s really quite easy to remove the door panel and install the new part. You could easily do one side in less than an hour, especially if you’ve done it before. Just take your time, you don’t want to damage the door panel or the window glass. In part 2, I will cover the rear regulator.

I’ve just taken mine apart and I managed to fix it without changing over the regulator! The cables had come out of their runners. I will however change the regulator over now I know what I’m doing! Did you reseal the internal door cover with black silicone sticky stuff? Now I’ve got it all back together, the control for the right door mirror and window lock does not work! Any ideas! It all may come together when I dismantle it all again. Great video.

What about the part where the cable is attached to the motor??? Didn't see you remove or reattach it. Motor is what moves cable up or down. Did I miss something???
