JR R says:

I used a mirror and light to help with the hoses and solenoid, became
invaluable and was able to replace the hoses and check the solenoid
and check valve without too much agro.

bimmerman3 says:

I changed that valve today along with new vacuum hoses since mine were
rotten and probably throwing the codes. Never did get the old one out so
cut the new hoses a little longer and let it hang. Also the VANOS seals
replacement went good and went a lot quicker than my E36.

john doe says:

when you did this did you just take off the hose going to the brake booster
to remove the plastic shield on the driver side? Ive been dealing with lean
issues since I bought the car. disa valve replaces, ccv and all hoses
replaced, vcg replaced, SAP delete (I live in Georgia). Im thinking maybe
o2 sims, and run a smoke test. so tired of this. let me know what you
think. love the videos, really great information.

Slickrick A says:

Great Video have a question also, my vacuum line it broke at the check
valve leading back to vacuum valve would this cause the check to shut close

Bullshitkorner says:

yes it would as the vacuum opens the valve for your fresh air pump. if you
don’t fix this issue you can burn your pump out or blow the hose from the
pump to the check valve

Bullshitkorner says:

what’s your definition of a cold start ? mine is like -20 outside and in
that case it’s normal

Vlad J. LENA says:

I got a question. I have a 02 bmw 525i and at cold start the whole car
shakes for about a minute. what do you think is the cause of that?

Bruno Silva says:

thinking the hose could be bad i bypassed all that crap.. new hose from the
manifold to solenoid, new hose from solenoid to vacuum gauge to test..
solenoid plugged into harness/motor on… no vacuum according to test
gauge. checked harness plug for juice.it does. soo i literally shove two
wires in the plug to jump 12v to the solenoid with the hoses still hooked
up. turn the car on and BAM vacuum is working… so im thinking the harness
plug and solenoid are not making a good connection? unreal

Edmund Mendez says:

Nice haircut man hehe. My 2000 528i has ABS light on, DSC light on, engine
light on, brake dash light on. Sometimes the speedometer doesnt work.
Mechanic tells me the ABS module needs to be replaced, its gonna cost
$1500, which I don’t have. Maybe you could do a video on troubleshooting
the ABS module on the pos motherfucking bmw’s? Thanks man.

Bullshitkorner says:

check your brake sensors maybe one of them is broken or out of place

Bullshitkorner says:

im in Calgary, how is your E46 is it plagued with all the major issues
known to these cars ?

philyphil85 says:

FUCKIN BEER TIME!! 7:48

Bullshitkorner says:

I think i take care of the swearing and bitching before hand so people know
what to expect. as far as the sub frame cracking, not sure i’ve never
looked and didn’t notice anything when replacing the tailing and bushings
last fall

Bullshitkorner says:

yes of course it’s bad, that vacuum line opens up the check valve to pump
air into your exhaust during a cold start. when the valve doesn’t open your
air pumped is stressed because it’s trying to blow with nowhere to go and
eventually it will burn out. that pump is quite expensive to replace

Bullshitkorner says:

hahaha my car has had all the normal issues that all bmw’s suffer in the
past year and some

Bullshitkorner says:

i can do that video only if it decides to fail on me

Bullshitkorner says:

usually a whistle is a sign of a torn intake boot usually the lower one,
but it looks like you changed them out. my only advice at this point if
your baffled is to smoke the engine and look for the leak

Dave W says:

I changed all the vacume hoses, vacume valve, ccv and all hoses, air pump
and hoses checked out fine, intake boots have no holes and are secure. At
full throtle and past 5000 rpm i get a whistle from the ingine bay. I know
this must be a vacume leak still. What else could it be? Did I miss
something? Any help sir? By the way I love all your video they are very
helpful and you make working on cars fun. Keep up the great work. It’s
Fcuking Beer Time!!!!!

Daniel Guerrero says:

I see, ok thanks man, I’ll try to fix it today

Archie Hawk says:

I absolutely love your videos!! You speak my language as I work on my own
E46. Where are you located? Edmonton?

Bullshitkorner says:

maybe but the solenoid will only work when the car is cold as it allows the
vacuum to open the valve on the exhaust manifold while the air pump pumps
in air. Once the engine is at a certain temp vacuum valve turns off causing
the valve on the exhaust to close and the air pump will turn off as well

Archie Hawk says:

Thanks for getting back to me. I am in Victoria, so not really 8 months on
winter but my 13 year old E46 has had most of the usual issues. I try to
stay one step ahead of these, and your videos definitely help minimize the
swearing and bitching when things don’t go smoothly. Did you ever have the
rear sub-frame cracking issue?

Dave W says:

took the valve off no problmes. Hard to get your hand back there but i took
it off without braking it and put it back on after i replaced the hoses.
Instead of buying a new valve I just tested it with 12 volts to make sure
the valve opens and closes it did perfectly. Saved myself 80 bucks that the
dealership wanted for the valve. 5 bucks worth of hoses and it was done.
other than BMW it will be hard to find the 3.5mm hose that bmw uses. I used
2.8mm which was tight but it worked fine.Great video

Bullshitkorner says:

it can be bad / mine still opened up but very slowly as you seen in the
video, it could also be a vacuum leak by a hole in the line between the
valve and the manifold and the check valve

Bruno Silva says:

makes total sense… i realized this after cutting off the factory plug to
solder in a new one.. but as you probably read the damn bare wires touched
and sparked.. now the car wont start.. cranks but thats all.. i really hate
asking for help.. i am a smart person and i worked on lost of cars but
sometimes my bad luck is too much to handle and i get so depressed i feel
like a loser…

bhdproduction2007 says:

I just got a p0492. How long have you been battling with these error codes?

Bullshitkorner says:

i would only get them in the winter time for a year, it turned out to be
the vacuum valve i changed out in the video, never had a issue since
