DIY BMW Hood Emblem Replacement. EASY!

DIY BMW Hood Emblem Replacement. EASY!

I’ve seen many ways to remove the emblems and I’ve tried many methods. I’m good with any method that gets the job done without damaging the car or scratching the paint.
Part Number for hood emblem: 51 14 8 132 375
Part Number for emblem retainers: 51 14 1 807 495 (you will need 2 of these)

Hi Jamie, can you make a video on how to replace the emblem on the steering wheel of BMW X3 2.0d F25 (Jan-2015)? Or just give some instructions on how to do it? Thanks a lot !!!

Watching you scrach the car with the flat head made me tense my hole body

Peter Gondolier says:

Easiest way I found is using an empty 1L plastic yogourt, or cottage cheese container. Cut a 1 Inch wide circular strip from the container. Then making sure the natural curve of the plastic strip faces down feed it under the emblem, same as you did with the strap. The natural curve keeps the strip down against the hood so it will easily come out at the other end. Then just grab both ends and pull it straight up.

Chris Porter says:

Please put a trigger warning next time on the “how not to do it” video. It was obvious what you were going to do, but no amount of prep time was sufficient to get through that segment safely. Perhaps it was intensified as my e93 is in the same black and I’m sitting in front of my car as you used that screwdriver.

Kevin Mathews says:

Thanks, Jamie. I followed the instructions to the letter and had the old hood ornament off in about 2 minutes. Super helpful video!

Stuart Menzies Farrant says:

Its a bitch if the pins snap!

David Halley says:

Nice video! I didn't have the clearance to slip that strap underneath. I could barely get the blue prying tool under but it worked eventually.

Abraham Lincoln says:

Aydın Sadi says:

Hi Jaime, thank you for your wonderful video. I have a problem. When I wanted to get out emblem unfortunately both pins are broken? How could I take out the pins? Thank you.

Illiya Kuryakin says:

Nice video. The only thing I would do differently is after cleaning the area under the rondel, is apply a coat of sealant or wax. But I understand that was just a customer’s car.

Kita says:

How about one on the trunk lid??

Long Hair says:

Man my heart sank on that one just full send on that hood lmao. I hope that was a throw away hood for that guy.

I normally get it up a bit, and use mechanics old friend some piano wire, wrapped around the edge and pull it off via a slide hammer.

I use zip ties to tie them to the vamos Solenoids in my m2 because theirs no room to pry them out so I tug them out
