That’s a control arm not a trailing arm 🙂 cool video though. Love the channel

Bullshitkorner says:

you just need to drink more beer or drop jager bombs to stay awake

spudth says:

I love the part when you were showing the arm and realized that you had the wrong end. I was changing my spring and tried to put the wrong rubber on the wrong side. Crap – 15 minutes of pushing it in and it wouldn’t go! Then it still won’t go but I think I will just spread the pieces apart. I think I need a beer but its like only 1 PM and beer will just put me to sleep when I start watching football!

Bullshitkorner says:

I was not experiencing any issues at all, I just replaced it and the bushings in the rear end as preventive maintenance. The only issue I had was a broken spring but it broke so low that you never even noticed

Oscar's BMW & VW says:

Were you experiencing any drivability issues that prompted you to replace these arms? If so, what did it feel like? Thanks…

Bullshitkorner says:

that would be awesome, i want to get one in the next year or so but i have so many requests to keep doing videos on this car so this one keeps me busy. I do have a video of doing the valve cover gaskets that will come in a few weeks.

MMyballsitch says:

ok that sounds good, i was thinking about the valve cover gasket and ccvv my self, i know the x5 has more room to work on but is it similar to your car?
but first im going to make a video tour of my car so you could see it.

Bullshitkorner says:

that would be sweet, go for it. who knows someday i may be out your way. America has lots of history i’d like to tour around the country sometime

MMyballsitch says:

Detroit to Calgary is about 33 hour drive and 1878 miles or 3022 km. i guess no video, sorry that too far. it would have been great to meet you though, i think i could replace them my self ill go you and buy some tools tomorrow make a video out of it. ill post it up on you youtube for you.

Bullshitkorner says:

id be game for that except i live on the other side of the country in Calgary

MMyballsitch says:

i all ready bought all of the parts on ebay and bought the mk4 navi to upgrade my mk3. it didn’t even cost me a $1000. if you want you could use my car for your videos, i live about 20 min from Windsor. heck ill even provide the beer.:)

Bullshitkorner says:

oh you have a X5. i’d like to find one of them next that needs work and fix it up and do videos so it makes it easier for people to do their own work instead of taking it to the dealership

MMyballsitch says:

i have a 2001 bmw x5 3.0i pearl beige, oil leak from ccv $760.50, replace lower and upper ball joints $745.00, replace both sway bar links $237, valve cover gasket $357.50, oil filter housing gasket $601.50. they also through on new tires for $1304.00 and wheel alignment for $198. that all equals $4,203.50+ $24.91 for shop supplies. and plus 6% tax it came out to $4480.62

bray0671 says:

Well I’m sure they all need to be replaced but it is the big one on the diff when you go into reverse it has a big clunk feeling also I have a 168000 on it and need a new tranny first.

Bullshitkorner says:

which rear bush are you talking about, there is 3 on the diff itself and 3 per side on the subframe section where it joins with the control arms. if you talking about the very rear bushing on the diff i can look into that

Bullshitkorner says:

that is a good price indeed, however now you got me curious what did they say is wrong for 4500, I know these cars are expensive to maintain so it doesn’t surprise me at all. Mine needs lots of work as well but i’ll get most things covered over the next year or so.

bray0671 says:

Yea my rear diff bush is gone hope you so that one so I can see

MMyballsitch says:

i went to the bmw dealership for an oil change.($79.99+6%TAX) witch is a good price because it costs me more then that to do it my self. when you do an oil change at the dealer they do what you call world class inspection. when i received the print out of the inspection, it had all the parts that failed and a invoice to fix them all. it was about $4500. i looked at him and said ill give it to you for $4500. so after paying for the oil change i went to the car and they detailed the car for free.
