Mike Almonte says:

What spray did you use to clean the Idle valve?

Brian Smith says:

Use maf sensor cleaner spray. Nice vid BTW. Helped a lot

Joe Thomas says:

I disagree about removing the cabin filter housing being a waste of time. I
can’t get to that last small hose clamp with it there. I have a stubby
screwdriver I can get on it but it’s too tight to get with just my fingers.
I think I need a flexible screwdriver if they make such a beast. Probably
wouldn’t work.

Jack Roberts says:

Damn dawg, nosiest background in a youtube video ever.

hash saad says:

@ saurbh.. I had the same problem 3 days ago.. I took my air intake off
just too get a clear view of every thing. Then I took off my DISA valve..
The flap on the DISA valve was broken from on side. Thank God the pin did
not fall in the intake manifold.. I got a new DISA valve and that solved
the problem.. Hope that helps you out..

Saurabh Khurana says:

I am having problems with my 2002 BMW 530i. Is this the same as an intake
vert control value? I can’t pass emissions on my car, do you think this
would solve the problem? Symptoms include shaking when at stand still and
can not being able to accelerate when needed. Service engine light on.
Do you think this would solve my problems or is it more than likely the
oxygen sensors 02 sensors are bad? Someone help please!!!

Xion Unjust says:

Not sure how anything can fall in since that tube going to the ICV is after
the intake filter.

nenep89 says:

Do you know if something falls inside the big tube below the idle control
valve what would happen because I think something fell inside mine on it
makes a noise how would I fix it

nenep89 says:

I was cleaning my idle control valve and something fell in the intake tube
the one thats connected to the engine. The one that connects to the idle
control valve too

Dats Jainal says:

Great vid! I’ll be doing the same thing to my car (530i e39). what did you
use to spray on the control valve? Did you clean the throttle body too?
Thanks in advance

Xion Unjust says:

@duster805 Excellent!!! Yea, I had the same problem on my friends car, but
we were able to get the clamp around.

Rushfan32935 says:

Very helpful vid!! My Saturn’s been idling extremely high lately and I
think that if I can find the icv and clean it, that should fix
it……………… It looks like the hard part is gonna be getting the
damn thing out!! lol

jfw6118 says:

Awesome video — thanks for posting — I wish all how-to videos were done
this well!

Xion Unjust says:

What specifically is wrong with the idle? is the idle just low in gear or
drive/reverse and it’s vibrating bad? if so check your engine mounts.
Remember, a mechanical fault won’t give codes most of the time.

driverontheroad1 says:

I have E36. Maybe do you know what idle control valve (ICV) should do when
I turn ignition on? Check my video If my question isn’t clear. Thanks.

gg4488 says:

@XionUnjust what type of cleaner did you use and what process? brand?

rednightist says:

Hello. That was a great video. Big help to my problem of
fluctuating/dropping rpm that I did not resolve after replacing the whole
crankase ventillation system. One important tip: After removing the DISA
valve, tape up the hole with and, say painter’s tape. This is to prevent
any foreign object from falling inside the hole. Otherwise, your done for!
Imagine a nut or bolt inadvetently falling in! Thnx again.

joliver1863 says:

Thanks for posting. It took a moment to get the ICV out. Did you reuse the
gasket/grommet? I am reading where it indicates to replace gasket/grommet
whenever the ICV has been removed/replaced. Thanks!

Xion Unjust says:

@alsaleh650 Great! Glad I can help

Roland Go says:

Great instruction. Just completed mine today. Thanks

MrPoooopro says:

iv a idle problem wit my 323ci e46 in 3rd 4th and 4th when i take it out of
gear it starts to rev to 5 6 thousand revs by itself would this be able to
fix this problem let me know

dustin stollberg says:

Thank you Jake! You saved me $500+ I’m sure. My car started doing the die
on start-up periodically for indefinite amounts of time and delayed
acceleration in general (because the ICV was stuck. Did your project today
and it runs awesome now. One thing I’d add is the two clamps holding on the
lower boot are a BITCH to get out and frankly impossible (upside down on my
ride). I just hack sawed them off (being careful not to cut the rubber).
Did the trick. Just have a couple spares on hand 🙂

Xion Unjust says:

@icemanleo 🙂

JCruzify1 says:

Oops* you still have your e46?

Xion Unjust says:

@spikie231 Make sure you plugged in everything back properly.

stugilligangriffin says:

@JackDballa I had the same problem as you. Put new VANOS seals in. Didn’t
do a damn thing. I am going to clean my ICV this weekend. I’ll let you know
if that helps.

Ricardo Rey says:

what is too lean (bank 1) too lean (bank 2) I changed the lower O2 sensors.
I thought there was a leak on my exhaust but I didn’t find anything. I sure
didn’t check what you just did so I might do that.

Xion Unjust says:

@reyes186 The only gain should be a better idle with no rpm dips,
roughness, etc.

Charles Prosser says:

hey follow the instructions and clean my icv, but car still has a rough
idle, infact even worst. 8 beats and thn cuts off. hitting the accelerator
its like no gas goin to the engine.i somehow drop the pin that holds the
power connector to the maf. do u think thats the problem???any suggestions
will help.

gg4488 says:

@XionUnjust thanks bro

Xion Unjust says:

Might need to change your VANOS seals if everything else was done

Xion Unjust says:

I would clean it regardless. Also clean your MAF and check your intake
boots for any cracks/tears. Is your idle around 550-600 and it’s vibrating
bad? Most likely that’s due to engine mounts.

Otto Leal says:

in my case it turns on the check and EML, gives code 1510 I turn it off and
normalized. What could it be?

gg4488 says:

my icv is in there tight do i just pull hard ?

DameAndThatGame says:

Your aftermarket alternator theaory is no true , after Market alternators
come in different amps, my after Market alternator was 140 amps compared to
the even cheaper one u bought which is probably only 90 amp

Xion Unjust says:

@djrizon excellent, let me know how the valve was.

maddison macfadyen says:

hi great video!! i have a quick question my bmw e46 318i has an idle
problem it will drop in revs then go up in revs constantly as if i was
sitting there reving it i have put it into the mechanics and after $700
nothing was fixed as he couldn’t work out why he replaced the crank shaft
valve and the o2 sensor is showing but he didn’t replace that but i had it
looked at again and they though it may be the egr but would be great if i
could get your opinion before i waste more money and time.thanks

Irene Aubertin says:

I just completed the idle speed valve cleaning. It worked and now my 2001
325ti is running without the surging idle. Those clamps with the heads
askew and hard to get at were a problem, but are now in place for easier
access next time. The valve was not moving at all but plenty of carb
cleaner solved that. I also liberally sprayed the throttle valve area as it
was dirty also. Thanks for the video.

Mishu says:

This vavle is also on the 318i 118HP e46? because i have some rpm
oscilations sometimes and all the time i have this oscilatons on rpm when i
move the whell.. could you give me an answer what i need to check.. thanks
alot . best regards

apathy11303 says:

Hey, I have a 03 330i that is idling too low (around 600rpm.) I wonder if
cleaning the ICV will help resolve this… I will doing this next weekend
as it doesnt look hard to complete at all… I just need to buy a torx set
first.

yabaydestrian says:

Went ahead & did this today…man, what a big difference!! thanks again for
the video!

Xion Unjust says:

@carbidutz CRC Brakeleen (brake parts cleaner, the big green can)

View From Milledge says:

Thanks for the videos, i have cleaned my ICV and changed my spark plugs
from your videos… still trying to figure out my idle problem, it starts
and drives fine but sometimes idles jumpy and stalls at a stop. any ideas?
i have cleaned icv, checked boots, cleaned MAS, checked o2 sensors…

safecents says:

Big help, thank you. I found I could do the job without taking off the
plasticx shield that surrounds the brake master cylinder. It saves a little
time. The clamps down by the engine block are tough to get at as well. Mark

Matthew Goebel says:

Done. Thanks for your help!

Xion Unjust says:

@frogvillage hahah, yes I did that job. just under 3hrs

rsin101 says:

Was there a reason why you cleaned it or just regular maintenance?
