DESTROYED MY RADIATOR FAN + How to replace it (BMW E90, E92)

DESTROYED MY RADIATOR FAN + How to replace it (BMW E90, E92)

https://www.fcpeuro.com/
We all make mistakes. An extra few seconds of preparation can save you from a big headache or an expensive repair. In a rush to get the front of my car jacked up, I missed the jacking point under the engine and the jack went right into the engine bay, destroying my radiator cooling fan. In this video, I show step by step how to replace it. This DIY is actually pretty straight forward and only requires a couple of tools. Leave a comment and let me know your most embarrassing story working on cars!

Mr. Madness says:

Make a clock out of the older fan.

Joey McMahon Jr says:

Justin keep an eye on your DISA Valves, how many miles are on it? Mine is pretty much shot but luckily the pin is in tight and didn’t fall out and grenade my engine but the entire unit is failing and there is a vacuum leak through the O-Ring as it is flattened out now, the genuine BMW part is almost $400! But super easy to do, I went aftermarket for $77 and good reviews on the part, but yeah once the car approaches close to 150k miles i would change the Valves even if they don’t look broken, because they will fail and I don’t want them to fail in your intake.

James Lawlor says:

We have ALL made mistakes, I make mine when someone is hovering over my shoulder.

Brandon B says:

I'm still waiting on some snow drifts and donuts

Mr Vegan says:

Don't worry my life is the biggest mistake…..

David Wark says:

I did the same thing on my BMW except I was on the jack point at the time. The jack hit a rock and wouldn't roll forward making the car slip off the jack. my radiator cracked too, so I had to replace that as well.

TMMT NAIDOO says:

Can you show how to upgrade a 335i or 320i please

alpinab14 says:

Hay justin , just a quick one but would love to hear your thoughts on the suspension change as in before and after as im going to be doing this in a month or two , thanks mate

Andrew Bakas says:

When I was working on my e90 335xi, I was replacing control arms. Instead of using removal tools you could buy cheap at harbor freight or even rent at AutoZone, I used a hammer instead. Because of that, I ended up destroying the cv boots on both sides trying to remove the control arms. The axles themselves were good and not making ugly noises but hemoraged all of the grease everywhere. I replaced the front axles cause of that -_-

TheIdiotBox257 says:

Did a similar thing when removing an leaky oil cooler in a hurry, threw a wood block under the car for safety and forgot about it, ended up lowering my 96 STi onto the wood block right under the oil pan. Oops.

Tor Ivar haughom says:

Can you do a video about how to change your halogen headlights ( all the lights) to led/hid?

Mmad says:

First time doing an oil change, trying to unscrew the oil filter i was turning it the wrong way. I even borrowe oil filter wrench from local mechanics shoo, eventually my neigbour whos a mechanic helped me to get it of. We had to put a chizzle throug it and then unscrew it. Fortunettly nothing got damged, exept for the oil filter, it looked like a doll that has been abused by the dog for 5 years

Luka Franjčić says:

Are you going to do some performance mods?
Btw wheels look soo good 🙂

Anthony Maseki says:

I drive an e34 that gap between the engine and fan you can park an e90 in there!!!

N54 Lord says:

Yeah dude watch the coolant hose, I replaced all of them some miles ago. they get heat brittle after sometime and fcp is the place where you can save$$$ 🙂

Leonardo Flores says:

I love everything about FCPeuro, just disappointed at the fact that they no longer price match.. lifetime warranty is great and all but I'm finding the exact same parts sold on FCPeuro for $40 less on competing websites.. I mean if you're doing wear and tear items like brakes and clutches then go FCP but if it's a long term purchase item like an auxillary cable for the radio.. if I find it on ecstuning for $30 cheaper and I won't ever need to replace it in my life again..

Erik Alvarez says:

I have a story that will make you feel better. When I was in highschool, I was fixing up the family e36 325i and was replacing the driver side window regulator motor. Everything was going smoothly until I came to the part where I had to line up the glass to the two holders of the regulator frame. Remind you that the e36 window controls are in the center near the gear shift so with me needing to have the door open to make the needed repairs it was a long reach to slowly bump the control to make little adjustments. Since I was a 17 year old who never drove the car while it was working, I didn't know it had an auto roll down push feature. So as I needed to roll it down just a bit, it engaged the motor to roll all the way down. My arm was in a position where the scissor arms of the actuator pinched down on my arm and also had my thumb bent back almost touching my wrist. So as I was laying there wondering what to do, I had to swing the door closed with my arm attached to reach the controls and reverse the direction. Once I got my arm free I laid down on the floor of the garage in a sweat and being most thankful I didn't break or hurt anything, my dad was looking at me through the garage door window shaking his head as he walked away. It was the longest 10 seconds of my life. Haha

AlexE90 says:

A few months ago I was changing some brake sensor in the rear of my 330i. I slipped the jack under the rear of the car and began to jack it up and I heard this metal crinkling sound, but just thought it was the suspension creaking. All of a sudden, the car drops a foot or so and the jack slips out and splits my bumper. Apparently, it slipped off the rear jacking point and completely destroyed my muffler and rear bumper. Guess that was a good excuse to go buy a performance exhaust system :-).

Bucky Barnes says:

A little embarrassing: I was drifting for an hour in the snow storm last night. This morning when I started driving the car there's a wobble in the steering (wasn't there last night during drifting). My guess is that the Wheels got Caked Up and then froze and now are out of balance. Does this sound right, have you ever done that?

Josh M says:

Most of my mistakes have been from tightening bolts a tad bit too much and then they snap. Always frustrating.

Raqib Akhtar says:

Do you want to sell your old fan motor

Carlos Z Flores says:

This is pretty funny cause last night I was changing my window regular in my bmw e39 & I left the car on & there was smoke coming out of the hood so I opened the hood & boom I got sprayed with hot steam & my fan came off. I’m guessing it wasn’t working right. That’s why the car was steaming cause the car was super hot

CMstorm2112 says:

What's the song at the end?

Haitham Asokni says:

Nicely done replacing it!

Danny Jr says:

Keeping it real when I first got my bmw apparently a stop sign was crashed and so I didn’t stop and their was a huge dip that I took. Keep in mind it was dark and I wasn’t paying attention. Had to get the whole front bumper replaced and never would I unfocus on the road anymore

AutOdometer says:

ouch… could have been worse… could have been the radiator… close call

Paul Ewing says:

Great video. I once added a qt of oil and forgot to put the oil cap back on. Big mess. I just ordered a new radiator and a bunch hoses from FCP Euro. Great prices and quick delivery. Keep up the great work.

QwertyYT says:

I’ve been with you since 12k and I am amazed at the quality of your videos. I hope soon ONCE you get over 100k or 200k you can go full time. Just a thought
