@harenchi Thanks for sharing. By any chance… Did you record yourself
doing this method? There are people who are much more skilled/comfortable
with the “Dremel method” like yourself, I am not one of them. To me the
risk of accidentally scoring the kingpin/axle is just too high a gamble.
Just remember to get a new replacement of the inner dust shield, to protect
your new hub/bearings. There is only one company that makes those specific
pullers that I’m aware of > Posi-Lock.

bimmersgarage says:

@exp1993 It was a 3″ unit.

bimmersgarage says:

@joneperry Thanks. Actually it’s the front wheel bearings. The Reasons why
I replaced them are documented in my other vids, check them out. (tagged

bimmersgarage says:

Well, if that’s the case then all you need to do is to grab hold of the
entire hub unit and pull, which should pull out the “outer” race along with
it when they come off the kingpin. Let me know if that gets the race out
for you.

Thank you for viewing and commenting on my vids. I take full responsibility
for the “quality” of the video… Know that proper film lighting was not my
top priority at the time (What was important is to get these hub/bearing
replaced ASAP), so it was mainly to show what can be used to extract that
stubborn stuck-on inner race with the least amount of effort. (As compared
to some people who recommended blowtorching, Dremel-ing, etc. to break
loose that remainder piece of bearing.)

Youre the man! thx!

@frogvillage Look at the second part of my video on – Wheel Hub Bearing
Replacement.

bimmersgarage says:

@HEYHI278 You’re welcome.. Great to hear that you got the race off without
any other issues. It definitely can be frustrating to be stuck on such a
small part when you are trying to get your vehicle back up and running.

Good videos….but the camera-person needs to learn a little about lighting
🙂 I’d replace the right front bearing on my e 36 but every dealer around
here looks at me like I have 3 heads when I ask if they have a 46 mm socket
to get the axle nut off. So instead I have decided to scrap the car.

exp1993 says:

@bimmersgarage thanks!

BIG JAY says:

hey man i have a jaw puller but i need to get the outer race out the inner
just falls out with the bearings how do i get the outer race out with the 3
gear jaw puller? its stuck in the knuckle 97 neon

Michael Richards says:

This video is can also be applied to other vehicles, the method is the same
as my Grand Cherokee. I don’t have a puller that small though, so i think
i’ll go for the dremel method.

bimmersgarage says:

@HEYHI278 I’m sure this method can be used on other vehicles’ bearing race
problems… However, the results may varied, since I have no way to verify
success. Thanks for commenting and good luck on your axle bearing(s) with
the Dremel method!

bimmersgarage says:

No.. the pull-arms are NOT reversible, due to its locking design. The brand
is Posi-Lock.

Michael Richards says:

Haven’t been online in a bit, so i thought i’d give a follow up. I ended up
using the Dremel to notch the races, and then cracked them with a chisel.
Thanks for the idea, btw. I was racking my brain trying to figure this one
out, lol.

Matt Norrby says:

your the man love ur video

steven chandler says:

are the fingers reversible? who make that tool? thank you

covertopz says:

Thanks for making this excellent DIY. I was wondering if you could let me
know where you purchased the jaw puller that you use in the video. Thanks!

jd diaz says:

I have a 01 330ci conv. would this be the same steps to change the hub
bearing n the inner.

exp1993 says:

what size Locking 3-Jaw Puller did you use?

joneperry says:

Great video, so why did you change your rear wheel bearing, was it just a
simple milage indication?

ElMEXICANREBLE says:

Ok i will i make tools but the race i need to take off is the opposite
looking for one like that.

frogvillage says:

how do you put a new one in?
