causing this problem?ο»Ώ

Awesome!!!!! Thank you!!!!

AskTheCarExperts says:

This is usually indicative of an issue inside you engine computer. I would
recommend having it programmed at the dealer to the latest software level.
I have fixed a few of these with just software. Best wishes!

I have a 2003 bmw e46 sedan..when i drive it for extended time, especially
on hot days-(summer time) shut the car off for at lease 5mins then try2
start it back up again. it wont start! the temp needle jumps into the red.
as if the car was overheating, it locks-up, nd wont start un-till the
engine cool’s off again, the needle never goes into the red zone while im
driving thought, only when i stop and then shut the car off ive been
struggling with this problem for 2yrs now with this car

i have the code p0340 on my 99 e46. 323i…i never felt any difference in
the driving performance…the code just popped up…..and now that ive
changed the sensor just as you did in the video…now my car is
stalling…smh…help!!!!

AskTheCarExperts says:

I think I was referring to the intake side VANOS solenoid which supplied
oil pressure to the VANOS unit which changes valve timing. Most often the
failure with a code like this is the sensor but in rare cases the pick up
ring can loosen and cause a false reading. The timing would have to be
reset. I hope to make a video on this before the end of the summer. πŸ™‚

AskTheCarExperts says:

Hello Mike, It should be the same repair. I will have to make a video for
the E36 as my friend has this vehicle πŸ™‚

that on the intake or exhaust?

codes.

Excellent! You are very welcome πŸ™‚

AskTheCarExperts says:

Hello David, Thank you for the great comment!

AskTheCarExperts says:

Hello Dunn, That is unusual. Try putting in the original sensor and seeing
what happens. If you used a non OEM part it may be a bad sensor.

I got a code of P0340 on the OBD II reader along with Camshaft position
Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor). I looked this up and found your
video. I decided to purchase the camshaft position sensor and attempt to
install it myself solely based on this video. The entire thing went so
smoothly and it fixed my BMW! I just wanted to thank you so much for these
awesome videos. You make the process of all these fixes so simple and
explain everything thoroughly. THANK YOU! I’ve subscribed.
