Correct. It is held down by plastic tabs that you have to carefully lift to
remove the vents.
Great video. Do you happen to know where the air vents in the center
speaker (above that wood trim you removed) go? Haha I dropped a screw down
there!!
Thank you for the video! Do you recommend any websites that have
replacement trim if you would like to get rid of the wood feel in the car?
hey i just bought a 3 series and the wood trim is covered in that carbon
fiber wrapping and is half way ripped off and looks god awful. when
removing carbon fiber wrapping, do you recommend taking off the wood trim
entirely or just as much as you have it off in this video? also, is the
wood trim durable or is it something you need to be extremely careful with?
kind of nervous i will break it by doing it myself haha, thanks.
The best place would be the dealer as this is a very specific part.
Hi, I’m having real trouble getting my BMW Monitor head unit out of my 2001
330Ci. I have found that the air vent retaining holes are over the top of
the retaining bracket for the head unit. This means I have to remove the
centre air vents BEFORE I can remove the Monitor. I can’t see how to remove
the air vents! Any advice please?? Thanks, Mark
Just posted a video for you on how to do this. I hope it helps! 🙂
Hello Ryan, Start with removing as much as you can and see how it looks.
The wood trim can be brittle so make sure to pry it carefully with plastic
trim tools you can pick up at harbor freight or similar store. Just take
your time and work it free 🙂 if you need to go deeper.
Your welcome Jeffrey!
hI DOES THE VENT JUST POP OUT IF YOU WANTED TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE TRIM
FOR PAINTING?
Vents brakes only if you brake them…
Thanks for the video man. Really appreciate it.
Hello, The vent goes to the heater box. You can try to remove the wood trim
and use a magnet on a stick to see if you can recover the screw. 🙂
Hello Jemel, Very common for the sliders to come off unfortunately.
Definitely something you can do yourself after watching the VID 😉
hey how do you remove the vents and the push start button off of the wooden
trim?
Hello, They are clipped into place. Using a small screw driver or pick took
you can work your way around the perimeter of the trim relasing the section
on the vent that is pressed into the locking portion of the wood trim. If I
get a chance to do a video on this I will 🙂
2007 328I start push button looks awful. Just to replace it, pull wood
panel off and replace? No programming needed? Plug and play?
Hello Tim, This is a nice easy install. It is plug and play. Remove the
wood trim. Unclip from the wood trim and install the new one. Plug it back
in and it should be good to go.
Anyone know where to buy the vent tab only? Lost mine 🙁
Depends on the style of I drive you have. Send me the last seven of your
VIN and I will see what I can find for you.
Thanks
do you have a follow-up video with how to remove the trim from the center
console?
Hello David, Glad my video was helpful. Thanks for watching and the comment
🙂 Unfortunately I do not know any websites that make a trim kit to change
out the wood trim. I have heard of people doing carbon fiber wraps. If you
do find one I would be interested in taking a look as well.
thank you for this video! my vent sliders just started breaking on my e90,
good to know its not a huge deal to get them replaced
Hello, Actually it is very common for the sliders to fall off. I have seen
it on quite a few model BMW’s. I have even seen the slider fall off at low
mileage. This is not always a failure due to abuse 🙂
Unfortunately the vent tab is not replaceable separate. You will need to
order the vent to get the tab.
Hello Mark, The monitor requires some special tools I think to get it to
slide out. Can you post the last seven digits of the VIN number to me.
wow nice thanks for the vid!
do you have a site where you can buy the clips for the vents
Thanks for watching and the great comment 🙂
