Word of caution. put on ramps/stands night before and let car cool
overnight–do not work on while warm/hot. First, cut off ALL the clamps at
once before any fuel is exposed. Then you’ll most likely need a small flat
head screwdrive to pry off dried out hosed from the metal fuel lines (care
for sparks!). You may want to do one line first, and empty fuel from
filter/lines (about a quart), and let dry 15 or so minutes before starting
the remaining hoses. Just my advice…

Michael Bennett says:

Keep in mind for others that this BMW has already had its filter previously
changed. Most bimmers likely have never had the filter changed, or at least
not changed since the last dealer checkup. Most, like me, will encounter
hard to remove oetiker earl clamps. You’ll need to use lineman cutters, or
similar. Which is very scary because when you clip metal, sparks often
follow. And i did get one spark and my life flashed before me waiting for
fire. fortunately all was ok

Some cars, like mine, has two in/outlets at both ends of the filter, plus a
vacuum line.

Thanks!!!! Great production work, nice lighting. It’s nice to see exactly
what you are getting into before starting a project, even the “small
things” like a fuel filter.
