BMW F30 Engine Mount Replacement DIY – N20 or N26

In this video I show you how to replace the engine mounts in your F30 BMW. I do this on my 328i with the N20 engine. This would be the same for the N26 powered F30 as well. This was a relatively simple DIY and did not take a lot of time.

I replace the engine mounts due to the amount of movement the engine experiences under load. You can especially feel it when using the engine start/stop function.

To do this you’ll need an engine support bar.

If this is the first video you are catching of mine please consider subscribing. I upload regularly.

Thanks for watching 🙂

Can anyone recommend aftermarket engine mounts for 2017 BMW 530i with B46 engine? The OEM mounts in these cars are garbage and seem to collapse after 2-3 years. My car gets driven 5000-6000 miles a year (Auto start/stop permanently disabled since new) and these simply don’t last. BMW conveniently does not cover engine mounts in their flagship BMW Platinum extended warranty because they know their OEM mounts are horse manure.

Woah woah hold up I don’t have vac lines on my cover like that mine just clips in and out what are the vac lines for? I’m assuming I’d throw a code if I didn’t have them just confused to see that setup

What brand do you recommend?

I truly wish this guy worked on Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus vehicles. He’s the only one with this level and detail with high production value.

Does it matter if the bolts are backwards

Does this method work on 2014 BMW 528i? I always though I have to down the subframe.

Simple and to the point! Thank you.

I appreciate your video – thanks!

I wonder if u do one side at a time so that when u raise the engine up by the support bar, the engine will tilt to one side and it might clear the stud so that u don't have to loosen the brackets.

Would the car make a knocking noise if the motor mounts fail. I have an 08 e60 and I thought my suspension was making the noise, ie sway bar links or something. Two different shops said everything is tight. I did notice my engine cover is missing a front screw and one in the rear and does shack. I’m not sure where the noise is. I next thing are the mounts.

Hello mate i have f10 530d xdrive. I have a knock while going over bump during warm days. Cold days i cant hear anything. Suspension and upper mount is new. No issue with control, knock also hear while on traffic light when the car is auto start from off to On ( car is stationary ). Do you think it can be engine mount?

@liviano9942 says:

dosn't dangerous jacking up the car by the middle of subframe? thanks 4 sharing video

@Trooper33 says:

You made that look very easy. Is it much different on the 528i?

@thecortez88 says:

Would a sign of a bad motor mount be a fluid substance such as small amounts of hydraulic fluid spraying onto the lower back left of the fire wall near the left engine mount? I’m also experiencing other mount failure symptoms. I noticed a burning smell but it doesn’t smell like engine oil or coolant ?
