The vanos is a known weak point for the e46 m3 s54 engine. We address preventative repairs by changing out the oil pump disk with a redrilled one from Beisan Systems as well as replace all of the vanos seals, hub sprocket bolts, spring diaphragms, various o-rings and gaskets, anti-rattle kit, and verify proper timing in this video series.

When putting the Spline shaft caps back on how many ft/lbs of torque does it need? I saw you use the electric impact to take it off but you never said how much to tighten it?
