I would Not recommend NGK spark plugs for this car, my engine (E39, 528i Sedan) ran rough as soon as I put NGK plugs into it, it vibrated noticeably and the engine was in a state of hesitation. I immediately removed the NGK spark plugs and put BOSCH plugs, which looked identical to the ones that originally came with my car. The BOSC spark plugs are the recommended spark plugs for this engine, and walla . . car ran like a machine !
very important you must change the connectors also not a complete tune up and can problems
Thanks for the video.
Mine is doing that too a little, are you getting any “Service Engine Soon” light? Mine was getting it before I changed the plugs. As for you, I would make sure the plugs are tight, or try cleaning the MAF. Instructions on how to do that are readily available on several BMW forums.
no not at all it idled rough now it runs idles and runs rough
It could be the coils, or it could be another issue, such as the ICV. Hard to say.
Was it running rough before you changed the plugs?
HI thank you for the video, I did verything that you said exactlly but now the car runs a litte rough what couldve gone wrong? I thought maybe the one of the new spark plugs were bad but i put the old ones back in and its the same situation please help!!!
Guess not… it fit..
5/8 ??? not metric ??
Yes, you do have to be careful not to strip the heads or crack the plugs as you’re taking them out. Thanks for the feedback! ^Bobby
Correct, don’t see why not.
I’m guessing the procedure is identical for the 520i and the 523i, yes?
Good video, thank you for the post. I have stripped a cylinder head spark plug thread. I wouldn’t recommend the heli-coil repair kit sold at O’reily auto parts, Dinan repairs them with a timesert .com for about $90.00 with out taking off the head.
THANK YOU !!
