Stoney3K says:

Will the engine run with the Vanos disconnected? Will it damage the engine
if the Vanos is not operating?

That is the cleanest M50 lump I have ever seen, damn you could eat your
dinner off it!

eddiesgsr says:

Thanks for the reply I did find it. But im a little confused. About the cam
locking blocks and the flywheel locking pin. U install them but then later
remove them to turn the cams to remove the vanos so why do we use them.
Anyway im gonna watch your videos a few more times and try to figure it
out. And is their any way u can do a video on removal and installation on a
clock spring. Thank you.

Mihai Fecioru says:

You are joking right? This engine looks so good that you would say that it
has less than 6-7 years and under 60-70.000 miles. What keeps an engine
like this in this state or clean condition (on the inside). Is it the
engine oil or sommething else. I’a asking because in Europe, Castrol engine
oil is beeing counterfited, and lower quality engine oil is sold as Castrol
engine oil.

Ceez Zee says:

does anyone have a link to a head gasket change video? this looks like a
good start.

Why bmw got so many engine problems?

puppy1981 says:

Brilliant video. I have a few questions though if you could help me. I have
a 1995 328i and the vanos is shot. Is the removal the same as this video?
Do I need to remove the chain wheels once I have the vanos module off, or
do I just need to remove the vanos module and refit once I have replaced
the seal and bearing inside?

Tomáš Kaplan says:

I have to say, that videos like this are the best type of relaxation for
me. I am just searching through youtube and looking for this! Dispite of
not having BMW, I really enjoy it. Thumbs up :-).

eddiesgsr says:

Wheres part 2

mybimmerspace says:

Gonzolo, it’s very likely chain stretch. You can also place a ruler across
the back of the cams, the ruler should sit flush to both camshaft squares
dots on the back of the cam facing up. If the ruler does not sit sit flush
then your cams are off. Don’t worry about the cams for now just go ahead
and loosen the exhaust camshaft torx bolts as if you are removing the
Vanos. Once the torx bolts are lose you will be able to rotate the cams
back to TDC with a wrench and put the blocks in.

Thabani T-Bowse Hadebe says:

Clean!!

mybimmerspace says:

Thanks, you made me laugh. I know they are long videos, lots of details to
go over.

mybimmerspace says:

Yes, if you are just fixing the Vanos its self than only remove the Vanos.
Everything else can stay in place.
