Marc Antunes says:

the original cap on my E87 doesn’t go back so easily – it feels just like
this new one. ;)

Carl Thomas says:

Great video. Like you said, too many folks take that cap for granted. I’m
showing a leak. Gonna go check that right now…

Marc Antunes says:

where to buy it on Europe? Like the blue colour and to be lighter. =)

tkOferOz says:

Great video thanks helps me a lot

briansmobile1 says:

@1ownjoo2 It could. I would have some one else drive it in a lot and look
at it when it’s cranked and rolling slow. I bet it’s all cranked in. Ford’s
twin eye beam was way bad for that.

briansmobile1 says:

@transdetendal Vid response is easy. You click on the comment box and
before typing you can choose video response.

briansmobile1 says:

@Bonfield2002 To expeditiously answer your question. Many times a 2003 or
newer car will require a CANOBDII tool or one fit for use on a Computer
Area Network system.

Srinivas Patnaik says:

Hi got a code 0455 on my BMW 325I; checked the gas cap…incase . Its good.
I saw several blogs , many of them they suggest it to be a EVAP Emission
Control System Leak(Large). How to fix it ? can you please post a video on
it? Thank you

Steve Rob says:

@briansmobile1 Your pretty sharp. this was a 2007 chevy 1500 with a autel
801. I did not now where to check after the scanner would power up but say
no communication but I’m ready for the next one. I owe you one Brian you
just saved me a hair transplant, I thought for sure I was going to pull all
my hair out LOL

beefystik says:

@briansmobile1 I’m not sure what yer ground level is at yer house, but did
it chug or dog at all moving into higher air? I’ve heard stories mostly of
people having a car trailered to a vacation home on a mountain for
instance, and the car won’t start or runs terribly until the fuel map
re-adjusts. I don’t know much about diesels save they fire one compression
alone, but I’m interested to know more. *Hint Hint 🙂

rwbishop says:

Brian… Quick off topic thought. I’ve heard long term exposure to black
lights can raise hell with your eyes… might I suggest asking your eye MD
about leaving them on in your shop? Love the videos, check for new ones
several times a day… Thanks!

transdetendal says:

@briansmobile1 thanx ,itryin toget te upload i promised ,now i at least
know how to show it to you, thanx for the help

Gizmopflege says:

Good video and a good reminder that a loose gas cap can really illuminate
Check Engine light.

Ronny Contreras says:

its always the small things that give head aches -_-

briansmobile1 says:

That’s usually an evap pump that’s failed. It pumps the fuel tank system to
check it for leaks.

1ownjoo2 says:

@briansmobile1 Brain i want to thank you for constantly posting back and
helping me. You are a true cool dude man.. I started the Jeep today again
at 6pm its 63f outside… again the Jeep started to smoke white puffs out
again.. It kept doing it until the Jeep was warmed up to normal 180-200f
temps.. The tailpipe had water dripping out and the cat was dripping water
again also… Im so worried about this, i made a video of it.. could you
check my channle and watch it ? Thanks

Alan Kellisa says:

that scared the crap out of me

briansmobile1 says:

Nope. Vacuum gun. I tested each section of line.

la1hernand says:

hi. i just got a 0442 and replaced my gas cap and still failed. what could
it be?? i have a 2000 gmc yukon

bionicfingerz says:

I’m getting a PO1447 & PO1446 Code once and a while …. Could it need just
a new gas cap or replace of the leak detection pump / carbon fuel pump ?
It’s a e46 BMW 330i . Thanks for your help / reply .

briansmobile1 says:

@1ownjoo2 Water or H2O is a normal by-product of the combustion process.
Gasoline is Hydro Carbons or hydrogen and Carbon. Oxygen in sucked in too.
Out the tail pipe you should have CO2, N, and H2O if you’re perfectly
efficient. HC CO CO2 O2 N NO2 and H2O are all common.

briansmobile1 says:

@1ownjoo2 Sounds like condensation to me. Especially on start up it will do
that when it’s chilly.

Michael Larson says:

Very good presentation, thanks!

Steve Rob says:

Great vid as usual. A suggestion on a vid. I have ran across this problem
very few time but it does happen. Where do you start on a car when the ALDL
connector does not communicate with your scan tool? The scan tool powers up
but tool says no data available and can not retrieve trouble codes when MIL
is on. Oh yeah I tried 3 different scan tools. Maybe a vid on selecting a
good scan tool as well LOL.

bustfer07 says:

Hey awesome video man. I have a question about my car, when i put it on
park and let go of the break the car moves quite a bit, ether backwards or
forwards. I was thinking of changing the torque converter but im still not
sure if that will fix it. could you help me out on these one ?

1ownjoo2 says:

@briansmobile1 Yea i noticed when i turn my Jeep specially on tighter turns
it feals like its struggling or fighting me. I always thought that wasj ust
the viscous coupler because a VC does give some stiff stearing… but that
stiff stearing i noticed also sounds like its scrubbing my tires when i say
backup and turn fully locked.. So you think the caster being out of spec by
2 degree’s (5.4 vs stock 6.5-7.5) could be causing my hard steering and
outer tire scrubbing ?

JimmyStruthers1000 says:

hello, I just recently got a p0440 code on my 2001 pontiac grand am gt.
They said it was something to do with the gas tank but i checked it and
screwed it on and my check engine light is still on. Could you tell me how
to fix this?

Vladimir Khrustalev says:

Good Video!

ryansauto93 says:

@holidayhouse03 EricTheCarGuy did a video on adjusting valve clearances on
a Honda, check that video out, I’m sure it’s similar and would at least
help you in addition to what Brian said.

briansmobile1 says:

@ladygodia What year is it?

briansmobile1 says:

Don’t you mean the “piss out of you?” lol

ladygodia says:

I’ve been chasing a P1675 Evap code on my buck century for the past 2 years.

1ownjoo2 says:

does Caster affect front tire wear ? my Jeep has a Viscous coupler, i
noticed when i got it after 3k miles the front tires were wearing on the
outside. thought it was my VC So i replaced it. Rotated tires.been 3k
miles, still wearing outside When i had the alingment done, toe, camber
were ok, caster was 5.4 both sides, spec says 6.5-7.5. Mechanic said camber
doesnt affect tire wear but im starting to think it is. Outer tread is 5mm
inside is 7mm. or 6/32 and 9/32. check pm brian for info..

pquackenbush says:

@1thisbeme23 If you get a puff of air sound (like when opening a fresh jar
of jam), that means the cap is correctly holding the gas pressure in. If
you hear nothing, it’s not holding pressure. The gas gauge being wrong
probably indicates your fuel pump (which has a float gauge) needing to be
serviced or replaced. If you are handy with tools, you can google search
how to service or replace this.

New York Junky says:

Two thumps up! Very informative. Thanks buddy, What is the best place to
buy a gas cap at?

joel graves says:

very good tips on the gas cap.I guess since bmw has an up-dated fuel cap
that the old ones are prone too leak?…cheers….max

Adrian Skywalker says:

Of course it has an electric solenoid on it, it’s a BMW. My 1992 SUBARU
microvan(with carburetor, mind you) has a fuel vapor evaporator system and
it doesn’t rely on anything electronic. Just carbon canister, rubber lines
and some weird looking bottles. That’s the difference between the Jap cars
and the German ones 😉 .

Max Nguyen says:

dude, u should make a dvd and sell it. XD im sure alot of ppl would buy it

briansmobile1 says:

It’s possible- the key is to get some eyes on it and do some testing rather
than guessing and swapping parts.

briansmobile1 says:

@CURBECK Thanks. That picture you made of the doll was awesome. You’re
becoming quite the photoshop pro!

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

shweeeeeeeet! cheers!

briansmobile1 says:

@beefystik Shucks I just put those on today. I’ll have to take them back
off. j/k lol. I took that truck up to 8,500 feet today and did some 4X4
testing on it. It did great!

briansmobile1 says:

@1ownjoo2 YES caster affect tow and Camber both. The main reason for caster
is so the car will drive straight at speed. If you don’t have enough it’s
squirrelly and if it’s too much you can have bad tire wear and steering is
harder. In the PM you sent me I meant to say toe and camber. I may have
said caster- I’m super tired right now.

11Razgrez says:

I just had this code pop up on my 1998 firebird. I looked at the gas cap
and it’s very easy to remove and the seal is all dry and cracked. HOWEVER
no dampness of fuel leaking. Will it be damp or wet with fuel if it was
leaking and needs to be replaced or is it only a pressure thing?

briansmobile1 says:

@tresfranklin It’s usually the front rotors on the Ridgeline that need to
be resurfaced. Shops I’ve worked for are often as bad as the parts store in
training and brake lathe maintenance. I used to work part time at a parts
store and I used to maintain our machine and do Bee- utiful machining with
it, so try a place or ask around either way.

briansmobile1 says:

Check your filler neck and lines from fuel tank to intake.

transdetendal says:

@briansmobile1 thanx i posted the vid to you
