wildman261 says:

who doesn’t love a BMW?people who can’t afford them?haters?jelous?3 major
things that come to mind when i see people disregarding these cars….MB
and BMW are the 2 big wigs in luxury cars, but BMW is just a better built
car.nuff said.

dregenius says:

Nice to see someone who, from the sounds of it.. let’s be honest, wouldn’t
normally be seen near a BMW, at least show some appreciation for them.
Sure, they’re not everyone’s cup of tea and you really have to appreciate
driving them to put up with the maintenance (not so bad if you do your own
for the most part) but even if you don’t want one, they still are pretty
amazing machines. I’m always amazed at how clever the Germans are when they
engineer something! :)

ciconeworld says:

How do I change the freeze plug on 740 il

Paulo O Neill says:

Good video finally advice from normal people t.y. Paul

paradoxdesigns says:

man. i thought my supra had a weird motor to work on. that motor is hell in
a plastic casing.

daddytech says:

well I would change the oil with mobil1 get a good filter like the
puralator not the cheap paper filter because as my neighbor saw that cheap
paper one causes a lot of problems. I would also have someone check the
transmission fluid to make sure it’s not burned smelling and that there
isn’t a bunch of trash in it, check the brakes and the other fluids and may
also want to check the bushings on the rear end to make sure there is no
play in any of those , could be bad if there is

daddytech says:

@805ROADKING yeah but i’ll still be driving my tahoe in 10 years and there
will still readily be parts on hand for it cheap and my tahoe doesn’t get
that bad of mileage for the fact that it weighs almost 7000 pounds either,
i still get 16 /18 out of it

daddytech says:

it sounds like you are describing a ball joint failure to me personally but
it’s kind of hard to tell without seeing it myself to be honest

daddytech says:

well like i said before people have different luck with all different types
of cars, otherwise we’d all be driving the same thing. I am kinda the
oposite, only been left sitting a couple times (mostly my own doing) with
my chevy’s, never could afford to own a BMW let alone the money to be able
to afford to repair one.

20ilunga says:

How strong is the engine of this car?

20ilunga says:

Oh i see thank you

daddytech says:

powerful at least on the take off. the only reason I wouldn’t want one of
these is the parts prices though aside from that they seem to be pretty
decent cars.

937AutoDetail says:

I never have any issues with my BMW 740i. It has never left me on the side
of the road. I wish I could say the same for the chevys and fords I’ve
owned over the years.

daddytech says:

I appreciate the comment and the respect for the whole working on things
yourself too but when those “tuners” are wrinkled up in a ditch or at the
police impound for racing we’ll still be driving our “chevy’s” around
everywhere we need to go and not have to worry about anything tearing up at
the drop of a hat on us, that or we won’t have to worry if it does because
the repair cost won’t break the bank lol

daddytech says:

should be a black grip with a red dot on the end of it if i remember right
should be located near the firewall on the passenger side

Dima Khaetullo says:

i got many problem with the motor on my 1997 bmw740il ….and the car just
parked

20ilunga says:

When i asked …how strong is the engine? i meant to know how long the
engine can last on everyday drive?

Ghostknight13 says:

Hi i would like to know why my 2000 bmw 740i it makes a “knocking” sound
when i start the acceleration..

20ilunga says:

What do you mean ( STOUT ) ?

daddytech says:

sorry i don’t monitor this channel much, when you begin accelerating in
your car the knocking you hear would normally be the valves that need reset
or you may just need to use a higher grade of fuel , these cars weren’t
designed to run low test ethanol tainted fuel of the lower octane veriety.
if you’re lucky it’s just the fuel, or check the oil to make sure it’s at
the top of the hash marks on the dip stick . if all of that is ok then your
valves probably need adjusting. that’s my guess

John Norvaisas says:

Thank you daddytech!

daddytech says:

@mapaladini yeah i agree, just don’t buy any more of them cheap aftermarket
oil filters.

TheAdventureman93 says:

I own sn95 and a 69 camaro I respect any guy with a car that works on it.
Cause that’s what its about isn’t it?? I dont care if you own a rat rod or
a prius If you work on it and built it its cool to me!! Now I’m sorry but
some of you chevy guys need to cut the crap and stop running your mouths
about everything thats not a chevy!! Some of these little tuners are going
to end up dropping a f1 engine in crx and show you all up sorry to say but
its true. show them old school and learn from them:)

daddytech says:

believe it or not it’s actually pretty stout, i’d be hard pressed to find
something that takes off as fast of course top end is a totally different
i’d put any number of vehicles against it top end.

Capt. John's Bar says:

If it has tires or tits, your gonna have problems with it !

daddytech says:

@phxaz4life there ya go, man after my own heart.lol

daddytech says:

that was pretty much my neighbor’s take on it too, if you turn up the
volume and listen to him really close that’s almost exactly what he said in
the video too lol

BimmerM5e39 says:

7:38 I know, bmw owners are putting LSX engines in these cars mainly
because they need timing chain guides replaced every 150k est and Vanos
seals it really adds up and is very time consuming. And for the Hp to $
ratio forget it. There’s a E39 guy on BF that makes motor mounts for V8’s
cars which shares the same subframe for 540 and 740. Ford motors are too
big and weak such a waste of time and Hp to $ ratio. Always been a chevy
fan.

MrDieselfumes says:

I was a huge Chevy fan, still love the older ones. They just don’t seem to
be built with any heart behind them anymore. I’m not a NEW BMW owner, I
like the E30, E32 and the E38 (like in this video), but I love that I can
own a rich persons car when they are done with it and get sooo many years
of fun out of it without changing any major parts.

marco perez says:

i use to have a bmw man the parts cost an arm and a leg i sold that damn
thing got me a nice chevy silverado

John Norvaisas says:

Hi Daddytech,I’m looking to buy a 97 BMW 740IL it needs a speed sensor.What
else should i get done to the car it has 149K miles on it? Thanks.

daddytech says:

yeah showed him this comment at work and it got him looking them up so we’d
both see what you were talking about that is wild and i’ll bet those things
just scream. i like the one guys tag line on the forums too “i always
wanted to go 200+ MPH before i die, i just never want those two things to
happen simultaneously” lol NICE!

doctorfeelgood scott says:

How do I find the trans stick for the 740il 94?

daddytech says:

well if you use Mobil 1 motor oil only in it the car can eastily last
300,000 + miles (500,000K)

Little Suarez says:

Hey daddytech my 95 740il has steering problems when i turn it makes a
noise a kinda jerks do u know wats the problem n how much it wud cost to fix

daddytech says:

@paradoxdesigns oh yeah and like i said it’s got the umph too. that thing
will scoot but honestly even though he gets deals on the stuff I really
don’t envy his wallet any when it comes time to buy parts.

Mac Gyver says:

I love you Jim! Your the best LOL! As for the BMW… They get a bad rap cuz
the parts are expensive and the dealer will rape you like a cheap hooker
lol!. I certainly wouldn’t advise anyone to buy one unless they could work
on it themselves cuz like some of the posters here said, they can cost you
a ton of money. However… I am a professional mechanic that can do any of
the work the car will ever need and parts are available online that aren’t
as expensive as people think.

TheAdventureman93 says:

I’m tired of hearing people dog on these kids for trying to make something
from their moms old minivan. They are growing up in a time when gas is $4-5
a gallon and can hardly afford gas mise well $229 for a LS oil pump. No one
who has ever owned a Hot rod can tell me they haven’t let her scream! Note,
there is a time and a place and its not on any road with
cars, ditches, curbs, polls lol. Ha Dont ask me why or how but I’ve had a 1.8
VW with 120k stock short block rapping 9k. LS1 craps over 7k. 🙁

daddytech says:

not a problem, glad to help any way i can

805ROADKING says:

I’d take that Beemer over a Tahoe any day!! The money you waste on gas with
that Tahoe would more then cover any repair you would need on a Beemer,
plus the resale value. You would definitely come out way ahead in the long
run owning the Beemer Buddy!!☺
