Thanks for watching, also if you change your lower radiator hose it’s best
to replace the fan temperature switch (this is the switch for the auxillary
fan) or at least the green o-ring for it with a factory BMW part.
Otherwise you may get a leak there.
Also, be careful when handling the new radiator, you don’t want to stress
the interface between the radiator and the plastic side tanks. If you press
anything onto it, use your leg or a foam pad to back it up.
Hi Malcom, I’ll try: Radiator, Fan Shroud, Coolant hose, Coolant Pipe,
Expansion Tank, Expansion tank mounting bracket, Engine Cooling Fan Sensor,
Aux Fan Switch, Coolant Level Sensor. Optional would be water pump and
thermostat. Your best bet is to get to a full service site like Autohaus
AZ. Good Luck!
That’s awesome, glad this worked out for your X3.
You kinda glossed over the transmission thermostat at the bottom of the
expansion tank. It’s common for this unit to break into many pieces when
you separate the tank from the bracket. My trans thermostat was “welded” to
the bracket and broke into many pieces upon removal. I also had a conical
spring that sat on top of the trans thermostat to keep it in place. I did
not see that in your video. In reality, you probably would have solved your
leak with a new expansion tank cap and bleeder screw. I agree with you,
however, that replacing the radiator and trans thermostat is good
preventative maintenance at that mileage. Great video and thanks!
Thanks Dan. Your video is very helpful.
Great video man. Will be doing all this later this afternoon for my Uncles
BMW 325I . This will help tremendously, thanks for the detailed info. OH
and it looks like your using S-K tools … lol … I have a ratchet just
like yours !! Love those swivel handles !!
I’ve watched so many of these videos that I feel like I’ve already done it
myself! I am making ready for my venture into changing my cooling system
on my recently acquired ’06 330Ci. I am planning to remove the mechanical
fan and swapping in the electric ‘puller’ fan in it’s place while I’m in
there. I will also do my tentioner and idler pullies, WP, tranny t-stat,
the whole enchilata! Thanks for the video, it really helps add to my prep
time :-)
Hi there, got a 330ci having some coolant problems and your video covers
just about everything I want to do. I don’t suppose you could put up a list
of all the parts so I know what I’m ordering? Thanks. :)
Nice vid man
Thanks Dan, it was really helpful!…….. My X3 just got a leak on the
expansion tank. Thanks to your video I was able to change it.
