Carlos Cuadra says:

thinking about getting the 2007 328xi are you aware about any problems that
is usually common with that model, if anyone know of it would be appreciate
if you reply.

Djonkie Bonk says:

Excellent video. I just got done with a B Service on my MB C280 thanks to
your other video. These BMWs got too much plastic under the hood for my
liking.

killercake90 says:

Thanks man
Il tell them

killercake90 says:

When I drive my car for awhile on the freeway.its starts to got hot near
the gas pedal and under my steering wheel.

Jason Healy says:

Hey Calos. I have an issue. I have loosened every blot on the valve cover,
but it still feels like it is bolted down, I have tried everything I can to
pull it up, but it is jammed on there. What can I do?

Tony McGee says:

Thanks for your video. Just completed the installation of eccentric cam
position sensor. Where you cut up under the window, I just removed the
outside air vent under window and valve cover fell right down. But, my
friend put in the eccentric cam position gasket with socket and hit to hard
and busted valve cover. Otherwise, the job was a piece a cake.

DESMORNR24 says:

Nice Video and extremely informative. I’m getting ready to tackle this
soon – I discovered two bolts snapped off and left the other half in the
cylinder head which caused a heck of an oil mess in the engine bay. I
don’t have a starting problem like you described but bought an ESS
-figured I’m going in to do the valve cover replacement why not change it
now. aside from the two bolts drama, I’m hoping to find no other
issues. Thanks again for the Video

Beth Rutledge says:

Carlos, great DIY! I have a leak from from my VCG and was quoted $762 by
my mechanic. He stated that its not a job to be done at home as there are
“certain things you had to do to the engine” after the VCG is replaced.
Was there anything you had to adjust or check after you replaced the VCG
and buttoned everything up?

mvvette97 says:

Hey Carlos does a guy need to replace the bolts for the valve cover?

killercake90 says:

I just got an 08 328iGot it march 3rd it’s been at bmw stupid repair shop
for the 3rd time this month.for oil leaks and when I drive for awhile about
2hr drive the driver side gets hot.what does that mean.???? Theyr idiots at
bmw and tell me they can’t find a nothing on that.

Chris M. says:

Awesome DIY Carlos!!! So I’m just about ready to tackle this DIY ,but I
just had 2 quick questions for ya. Notice anything abnormal with the car
before the ESS gave out? Also, what lead you to believe it was the ESS? My
car starts ,however it lightly shakes and this mild sulfur smell comes from
the A/C. It runs ,but with reduced power. I’m hoping it’s just a coil, but
with my luck…probably not -.-

Chaoticshot says:

Would you need to apply RTV sealant on the gasket? If so, where would you
apply it?

Fitz Villareal says:

Hey carlos just wondering do you have to change your seal for the
valvetronic?

Carlos Cuadra says:

It started just as the warranty wore out. Go figure. The mileage I believe
was around 40,000 miles.

Carlos Cuadra says:

It should be the same thing. If you have any questions just send me a
shout. I’ll try and help you out.

lefante3112 says:

I was a bit intimidated to do it myself. Took it to a reputable shop and
cost me a fraction that the stealership wanted to charge.

rene jimenez says:

thanks for the replay, I want to ask you if i have to drain the oil before
I remove the valve cover. thanks

Carlos Cuadra says:

Rene, I purchased my parts from the dealer. But I’m sure you can find them
cheaper somewhere else.

lefante3112 says:

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure I didn’t miss anything. The jack and coke
is a must for this endeavor. Thanks again

Mario Cuadra says:

I heard ice can cause kidney stones. That is bad for both engine and my
internal piping system. A good scotch can keep the engine free of
contaminents and poor performance. I just need the proper ratio to Rumo and
Coke?

VeRoniCaRose454 says:

Well you just answered your own question :p

Carlos Cuadra says:

No, everything I could think of was explained in the video.

Carlos Cuadra says:

No you don’t have to. I was just playing it safe.

BMM M says:

LMAO!! Yes BMW dealer pricings are fucking crazy but you can get all OEM
parts cheaper at getbmwparts You could have picked up the sensor for $339.
Oh and this is an excellent video btw

Cesar Cruz says:

Thanks dude, really helped out… Keep it up, and the drinks helped me out
too

Roger Shiv says:

Nice job!!!

j t says:

Great, thanks Carlos. Keep up the good work. It’s helpful

Fitz Villareal says:

Is it necessary to replace the plug tube seal as well? Also thank you for
this video you are awesome bro…

tjspeed25 says:

I have what looks to be a valve cover gasket leak and I was wondering since
I have a N51 (plastic valve cover) if I should buy a valve cover bolt kit
or is this not needed since its not a N52. Also the only thing that has me
a bit stumped is the Valvetronic Re-install how bad is it?? Do i have to
turn the Allen bolt right till i feel tension when re-installing it??
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have on this topic and the youtube
video.

Mario Cuadra says:

The instructions were very good and detailed to the point. I even enjoyed
your assistant walking around; however, a question remains. How did you
make the drink? Was that coke and Jack? How many ounces per drink. Half
soda and half drink. tried your method and could not get the valve cover
back because the drinks were too strong. Could you help with this problem?

Carlos Cuadra says:

The seals should come with the valve cover seal kit. If not I would say yes
you should.

rene jimenez says:

hello I have these problem too, but i have some problems finding the cover
valve gasket, you remember were did you buy it, i have seen many over the
internet but they don’t look like that will fit, i have the same car mine
is 2007 but is the same engine. thanks

jayc5764 says:

Very helpful! I have had to replace my valve cover twice on my 2008 328xi.
Once at 40k and again at 65k.

Carlos Cuadra says:

Thank you for the kind words. 🙂

Willy Pong says:

thanks very nice vdo

VeRoniCaRose454 says:

Add more ice!

estrelladelnorte1308 says:

very nice sr!! this is just what i was looking for , very very nice! what
codes did you had for that bad sensor?

j t says:

nice job on the informational video. Just curious how many miles your 08
started showing these symptoms by not starting below 40*F. My ’09 328i
x-drive has almost 70k miles and will be looking out for this problem.

djotx92 says:

what are all the tools that you used?

Saturday Winter says:

Don’t go to the stealership, it’s should be 1 grandish to pay for
everything from a good shop.

Carlos Cuadra says:

I did not use any sealants on the engine cover gasket. However, the manual
says to place a small amount of silicone sealant at metal to metal seams
(such as timing cover to engine block).

David Gibson says:

I just got a BMW and wanted to learn more about the guts under the hood
which is how I found this video. I’m not very handy (yet) or know much
about how cars work (yet), but it is refreshing to know that someone that
does know cars, like you, needs a little liquid courage when seeing how far
in you have gotten. There should be more DIY videos like this on YouTube.
Great job!

lefante3112 says:

Awesome video. I’m about to try the same repair. Question – what were all
the gaskets you replaced? We’re they just the ones for the sensor and
coils? Thanks again- nervous about giving this a shot, but don’t want to
get ripped off for $2000 at BMW
