I see oil on the side of the cover. Your cover gaskets are probably leaking
oil into this area. If there is oil in the spark plug recess you want to
clean the oil out before removing the spark plug. If the oil drains into
cylinder you could get major damage when your try to start the engine. The
oil fills the compression area and when the piston comes up to top dead
center the oil prevents the piston from reaching TDC and the damage can
occur. FYI…
