Stop reading the repair manual. That is designed to give German unions something to do.
You just need to jack the car up reach up and pop the pump out. You don't need to remove anything unless you still have that stupid catch pan on your car.

What a complicated project to replace such an insignificant part…..

I think I will leave it as it is.

Carefully remove white bottle containing washer fluid, pushing down, to disconnect from upper bottle( you might want to empty washer fluid )

Only need to move the driver side inner wheel lining reach in and pull it out takes 5 minutes start to finish

sherman schlar says:

I give these guys an A+ for effort and for producing a clear and instructive video. BUT…..on my 2007 A4 there is a MUCH SIMPLY method of changing out the windshield washer pump. PROBABLY SAVE 75% TIME. Remove left wheel. Jack left front of car safely. Remove the large plastic tray that covers the lower engine compartment. Remove left front inner fender liner. You can now get a pretty good look at the lower windshield washer tank. Remove the black plastic brace that goes across the lower part of the tank. Remove a couple of the lower bolts/screws holding the tank to the frame. You can now gently bend the tank where you can get your hand on the windshield washer motor. Remove the top electrical connector. Get a drain bucket and slowly remove the output hose going from the motor, the tank will drain (takes time…). Now pull the windshield washer motor up vertically and it will pop out of the lower rubber grommet. Get your new replacement motor and reverse the removal process. That's it. You do need a 10mm socket and wrench as well as some #25 or #27 Torx bits.
