Removing the alternator makes life alot easier if you are also replacing
the thermostat! And yes once the car is in service position there is plenty

Why did you remove the alternator. Anyways.VW engeiners made this cars so
easy.to work on I ve replaced a few timing belts.and it aint fun getting
your hands in less than 6.inches of space ,but VW … Plenty of.room.
