@stsski14 No, I only needed to run an accessory wire. The +12v constant had
enough power to handle the new head unit without any issues.
Where did you get your aftermarket harness!?!?
does the audio system sound good?, like does it got a nice bump to it?
right on. Thanks for the reply. I’ll pull my system out and see what works.
Have a thread going on right now on audizine so I’m also trying to find out
info from them too. Great video and nice install
@GenesisWhip18 I was surprised at how good the factory speakers sounded in
this car. I mean, it doesn’t have the bass of twin 12’s, but it hits pretty
good. Especially when listening to like Young Jeezy or anything Techno.
@MrTrc626 There really isn’t a “good” way to remove the mounting kit for
these vehicles. They snap into place, so you need to cut them to remove it.
That was an extra mounting kit that I had, so I removed the snapping
brackets prior to this fake install. I just set it up that way for the sake
of the video. I put a brand new kit on after.
@nefkntym There really isn’t much to say about the steering wheel controls.
You simply wire it in (it wasn’t very hard) and follow the instructions to
get it to work. If you’re able to install the radio itself, the steering
wheel control module is EASY. It’s like 3 wires total.
Hey, Nice install., I have a Q . I have a double din installed and my rear
speakers wont work, i herd you mention that you did som modification to get
that to work, can you tell me how you did that? my rear speakers play it at
verrrry low volume
@Xarpolis Nice man what’s your mileage on this? and two more questions,
have you had any major problems with this since you’ve had it? and what’s
your mpg?
Do you have any more info on the pac adapter install? I want to know more
about the steering wheel controls.
Can you tell me what wires you spliced into to get the rear speakers to
work? I’m having the same problem and I have the metra kit as well. Thanks
in advance
did you have to run an extra power line from the battery of your A4 to the
head unit? I bought the PAC adapter from crutchfield and it says the
constant power wire can’t handle more than 1 amp. Not sure if this is true.
@GenesisWhip18 I take it to my local dealer. They give me a much better
rate than like… Jiffy Lube. Plus they have the proper tools. I’ve taken
it to Jiffy Lube before, and they left half of the mounting screws off when
they re-attached everything, just because they didn’t have the proper tool
to put everything back in place. It was a hassle. As far as getting Oil, I
do it every 4000 miles, so roughly every 4 months.
@jcass6279 If you have the factory radio still, it should have a decal on
the top that shows you the schematics for the cars wiring harness. This
will show you which wires are the positive output for Rear Speaker, as well
as the common ground.
@GenesisWhip18 There really isn’t that big of a price break with owning
this car over other cars. Granted, I give it 93 octane (the most expensive)
gasoline, and getting oil changes costs around $75, but other maintenance
isn’t terrible. I would say if you’re worried about a few dollars breaking
the bank, chances are this isn’t the car for you. You can get a similar
Honda, but it just won’t drive as nice. That’s the big selling point for
Audi. They drive incredibly.
@HiHye84 If you’re able to hear any audio from the rear speakers, then
you’re already in good shape. Now keep in mind, I’m referring to the rear
door speakers & tweeters, and not the deck above your trunk. If you can’t
hear anything from your rear doors or the rear door tweeters, then you’ll
need to do the green and purple RCA cable fix that I did on mine. From
there, it’s simply a fact of going into your radio options and changing the
fade to like 30% front, 70% rear.
@GenesisWhip18 My car is an ’07, and just hit 66k miles. I haven’t had any
real problems except my 3rd gear syncro went bad, so the dealer took the
car for a week to replace it. The work fell 100% under my extended
warranty, and the dealer even provided me with a replacement A4 while mine
was getting worked on. $0 out of pocket for that. As for mileage… It’s
only 23mpg at the moment. Something is keeping it low like that, but I
haven’t yet figured it out. Should be 28ish.
You need to use the RCA version of the Metra kit to make it work. You plug
the RCA’s into your wiring harness and connect them to the “rear speaker”
wires. I don’t remember off the top of my head what color they are, but the
kit explains everything. You use a common negative wire for both (I believe
it’s ground), but the positive wire comes from the RCA’s.
@flir67 This head unit is an AVH-P3200BT. There’s currently a newer model
(3300BT) and you can get either of them on Amazon.
@Xarpolis oh nice, well i got the money just didn’t want to have ti pay
that much more if it was, but since you say it’s not that bad at all and it
drives great im going to check one out, when you say oil changes around $75
is that at an dealership or a car shop? and how often do you change your
oil?
what color are the rear speaker wires? i just bought the same head unit and
i want to be able to hook up the rear door speakers too.
@Xarpolis word man, i was thinking about getting one soon, not trying to
drill you with questions but is it reliable, and worth it to pay alot for
maintence and tune ups and so on, and do you know if they last a pretty
long time? lol sorry
