Good video but you are still applying too much sealant. The proper way is a 3-5mm bead around the entire pan and on the inside of the pan around bolt holes. ttp://knoji.com/images/user/1(24).jpg

David Redmon says:

it dosn’t have compression cause when he removed the intake cam to replace the Tensioner the lifters were Hyper extended , to avoid this after reassembly rotate eng 180deg let set 5min rotate again and repete this 4 times this will allow lifters to settle..

Great video, i really needed a thorough video about replacing the cam chain tensioner. Thanks!

EDGEMOTORS says:

its called hi-tack gasket sealer from locktite

aetommyboy says:

What is that spray sealant you guys use called?

EDGEMOTORS says:

It’s easier to pull the trans, if you do it on the lift. I did pull the motor couple of times to do the clutch in the parking lot, tried to pull the tranny and it sucked. So if you don’t have a lift motor would be wiser, and less changes of that tranny falling on you.

ArcolaBridge says:

they didn’t just run a cleaner through. They completely cleaned it all out. That part was really meticulous, a lot better than just running cleaner through.

ArcolaBridge says:

WOW you really covered a lot in a short amount of time in this video. I watched the whole thing and my head is still spinning lol I hope I NEVER have oil sludge in my motor! I always use Motul Fluids in my 1.8T audi. I have some things I think I should do like injector seals, cam seals and new clutch. Also rear main, and why not axle and transmission seals while I’m at it. Motul Gear 300 for transmission and differential. Do you think it would be easier to pull the engine to do the clutch?

Great video. Thanks much! Saved me much time

1. the seal in the turbo are metal.
2 we ran oil trough the system after all the chemicals
3.the chemicals that the dealers use do not work, and even if they would they will not take the sludge off the walls of the engine, they only loosen everything up and then clog the oil screen in couple of month(we bought allot of cars like that with oil sludge after dealer have “repaired it” a month or two before…

LimpItHome says:

you ran gasoline and then diesel through the lubrication system (and the turbo as well?!) when the seals go in the customer’s turbo, this video will give them all the evidence the need to have you rebuild or replace their turbo on your dime. it’s insane you spent this much time desludging when there’s a factory approved product for desludging VAG motors that runs about $63 a gallon wholesale, and only takes an hour to run through. total customer cost for the job is <$300.

great video

EDGEMOTORS says:

the trans fluid we used about 1qt and the rest is engine oil. and after purple power we used water to clean it out, be very careful with purple power it eats aluminum parts if you leave it there for too long.but all that might not be necessary if you do not have sludge in oil channels.the car in the video was very sludged up. if your sludge is not that bad than you could get away with just purple power the motor and changing the oil pick up. make sure you clean the oil supply line for the turbo

Dan Constantin Popescu says:

i have 2 questions: how much trans oil did you use for cleaning???? it was only trans oil or mixed with engine oil?? and same as wyclef28 : after using purple power degreaser, what did you use to clean that out?? water jet???

Mrcaffinebean says:

Great video! Thank you so much, I think I’m going to end up doing this job myself because I don’t trust the mechanic to do it for me. Currently its at the shop with what I believe is this issue but the mechanic believe is coolant related. Already spent $700 plus to have the wrong thing fixed.

kokovq says:

great job man thx for this great video

EDGEMOTORS says:

but after all the washing you have to blow it out with air and pump the oil through the system, other wise you might have some water stock in the lifters and it might hydro-lock the lifter/s and bend your valves… (dont ask how i know that…:( ) the hydro-lock happens after several min of running… i guess when the water start to boil….

EDGEMOTORS says:

we use regular water to rinse and you cant leave the purple power on there for more than 5-10 min
the part number for the sealant a003989982010

wyclef28 says:

You guys love that mercedes sealant. What is the part number? After you used the purple power what did you use to rinse?
