Jeff Galisky says:

@vchep chep — technically you don’t have to put the engine at TDC prior to
replacing the CCT gasket because you don’t have to pull the t-belt off.
It’s always a good idea though so that you have a reference to guarantee
everything is lined up. No need to lift up the cam unless you’re doing the
chain glides which I have been warned NOT to do unless you are having
issues with them. Otherwise just compress the tensioner and rotate the
engine slightly to get the right slack in the chain.

vchep chep says:

did you have to be in TDC, taking off half the front end is you only have
to replace the pass side CCT Gasket? do i have to lift up cam?

edshred2000 says:

When replacing the cam tensioner seal on the drivers side did you manage to
do it without taking off the timing belt ?

Jeff Galisky says:

Correct we never had to pull the timing belt which made the job a whole lot
easier.

Jason Croxford says:

Great stuff. I am about to do this exact same procedure. Not even sure if
you check this channel but did you end up having to remove the timing belt?

Jeff Galisky says:

No we didn’t remove the timing belt because we decided not to remove the
cams. Since our goal was to resolve the oil leak from the cam tensioner
gaskets we just did the seals and didn’t do the cam glides which would
force you to remove the cams. If you remove the cams you do have to remove
the t-belt to get them out. Good luck and if you want to talk through it
just shoot me another message and I’d be happy to sync up.
