This is how I did a quick repair on my Audi’s steering wheel air bag trim piece by painting it instead of sticking a cheap plastic cover on top of it. Although it does not give you a factory finish, it is easier than taking the airbag off and disassembling it completely to get to the clips holding it on. YOU WILL NOT REMOVE THIS PIECE BY PULLING, PRYING, HEATING, OR SNAPPING IT OFF. There are about 16 plastic clips around it holding it in place that require breaking from the other side in order to get the piece loose.
