Audi A4 Oil Pan Replacement DIY (2009-2017 Audi B8/8.5 A4, A5, A6, Q5, 2.0t Engine)

Audi A4 Oil Pan Replacement DIY (2009-2017 Audi B8/8.5 A4, A5, A6, Q5, 2.0t Engine)

►The Audi B8 & B8.5 oil pan is responsible for catching and holding all of the oil not being circulated through the engine at any moment. Any damage to it can interrupt oil flow and potentially ruin your engine. Replacing the engine oil pan at the first sign of damage or leakage is the best way to ensure your engine is free of oiling issues.

If you live in an area with salted roads, there’s a good chance your oil pan has begun to rust. It’s an unfortunate situation, but one many of us have to deal with. A rusty pan is no good and will eventually begin to leak, if not fail completely. Save yourself the hassle of replacing a blown-up engine by replacing your oil pan during your next oil change.

Wrench along with Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro’s Professional DIY’er, as he replaces the oil pan on a B8 Audi A4 2.0t.

Great video Mike.. I did a buddy’s A4 couple weeks ago, it was consuming 1L of oil every 800 mi , it was the notorious first gen oil control rings.. we pulled motor and pulling the pan off was easy on stand.. but I did an oil pump with motor in car before and great tech tip on practicing installing pan dry a few times to get the motion down, I had to reapply silicone because of major smearing lol.. good production and commentary all around

Just ordered the pan for the V6 engine for a B8.5 S4. How different is the access for that pan? Easier or harder? Plan on doing a DIY video for that engine?

So there is no set time between finger-tight and full torque on the sealant? Any (dis)advantages on using OEM sealant vs Permatex? Also super annoying that Audi doesn't use a gasket for this. The VW version does – but does not fit (ask me how I know) 🙂
