I do not understand your question. I put oil in the new filter before installing it on the motor. That is all priming is, trying to avoid a dry start. If some oil is in the filter it won’t take so long for the oil pump to fill it.

BTW I have a 2002 Audi a4 1.8t.

Thanks. I hope you answer before the end of tonight, I’m trying to do this tomorrow morning …

Thanks for the video pal. GREATLY APPRECIATE THIS. My last oil change, the “mechanic” put 5qts and my exhaust smoked and I’m leaking oil which either has never happened before. I’m hoping me using your video solves both my problems.

Question, the oil filter, you primed it and left the oil used to prime in the filter or did you insert the new filter with no oil in it and just “lubbed”?

You are welcome. Thank you for watching.

I’m no fan of cleaning products but some like SeaFoam.

Thanks for the upload! Great step by step tutorial! You saved me some cash! so, heard you mentioned this emgine is known for sludgin’ on the oil, hence stressing maintaining intervals, any tip/thoughts on ‘cleaning products’ for flushing?

RSpi007 says:

Tight the screw of bolt is that you are securing. Most screws and bolts on cars have a special tightness setting called a torque value, which allows you to PROPERLY tighten a screw or bolt to avoid damaging things or causing things to be to loose. You can get a torque wrench from Sears or most auto parts stores. They run between $40 and $120 for your average torque wrench.

RSpi007 says:

After the filter has been sitting on the car for 3 to 6 months, it’s hard to remove by hand so you will likely need an oil filter wrench that fits the filter to get it broke loose, then you can unscrew it by hand.

As for the oil pan bolt, when you install them you want to drain plug bolt tight enough to prevent an oil leak (drips) but not to tight that it will damage the threads on the pan. So, there is a special wrench called a torque wrench that has a gauge on it to let you see or feel how..

I really like this video! Im trying to learn how to change the oil on my 03 a4 and this video explains everything really good! When you remove the oil filter, can I remove it with my hand or do I have to use a tool for that? Also you said something about torque when removing the bolt, can you further explain that to me? Thank you!

Good video bro. Very to the point without skipping steps.

RSpi007 says:

Thank you. I hesitate doing video’s when there are already 10 of them there but I realize some do NOT have good nariation, some skip steps assuming that people know information and others leave out the details. Glad I went through with it.
