That is the rear check valve for the pcv system. It doesn’t do any harm
just makes that pop corn popping sound. If you would like to get rid of
that you will need to disconnect the rear breather, that metal hose next to
your turbo inlet. On the side that connects to your valve cover you will
see a little valve “looks like a fan” you can pop out the center of it make
sure you get all the pieces out. If you need more information search “mkv
