No, but other P0299 codes may relate to other issues. This issue is solely
due to a turbo issue and it shouldn’t have any impact on smoking at idle.
Rule of thumb if it black smoke its due to emission controls if its blue it
may be worn pistons, rings or valves.
Does the car you smoked intermittently at idle?
cheers mate,nice video walk through
Hi, From your actuator you will see a tube coming from it to a small
solenoid unit, pull this pipe off at the solenoid and suck on the pipe, as
you do so you should feel some resistance as you create a vacuum you should
note two things :1st the actuater arm should move, 2nd you should be able
to hold the vacuum with your tongue. If you don’t get both responses you
should assume the diaphragm in the actuator may have failed. If you can
continue sucking on the pipe has failed.
Nice video, thanks! I have the same fault on my 2.0 CR tdi from 2009. Do
you know how to check the actuator whilst installed?
