zaftra says:

I got a new temp gauge to replace the old one, but it doesn’t have that
long bit that sits in the water, it is flat. Says it was for the car
though, do they have different kinds? It’s blue.

rawux1228 says:

one more question. Checked mine and there is a like 5cm hose on the top. so
you removed it before?

GaryKist_Automotive says:

nope

rawux1228 says:

I think its hose from air filter and mine sensor is under it so its not
wide open like yours and i cant reach it with my fingers. BTW i have 98
audi a4 b5 92kw

GaryKist_Automotive says:

welcome!

kumbackquatsta says:

thanks for the vid. i have a 2000 a4 b5 1.8t, same location and cts color?
will a faulty cts cause trouble starting in warm/hot weather? will
replacing the cts require me to add/top up coolant? thanks again.

GaryKist_Automotive says:

what year is your car? are you sure the hose isnt electrical wiring? mine
doesnt have a hose on it, but it has wiring that i unplug in the video.

GaryKist_Automotive says:

thanks hahaha

GaryKist_Automotive says:

good luck……also check coolant level in the reservoir…i wasnt showing
any temperature increase, then i topped off the reservoir and its working
fine.

GaryKist_Automotive says:

I dont know the answer to the first question, but there are only a few
drips of coolant that escape when I take the sensor out. So you shouldnt
have to top off.

Veyron640 says:

Thanks for vid man,, mine is 99.5, I think same location,, green though

GaryKist_Automotive says:

not sure sorry!

drac ula says:

is the A3 1.8t 1998 temp sensor in the same place as i need to replace mine
many thnx..

JUDGERAMBO says:

Nice save with the retainer.

rawux1228 says:

do i have to disconect battery?

GaryKist_Automotive says:

not sure but I would think so…you should be able to see it without taking
anything apart…open the hood and look near the back of the engine just
like in the video

GaryKist_Automotive says:

it seems you have a different air box than mine….i guess the only thing
you can do is just take the hose off to get to the thermostat

Jesse Naval says:

I have a 1993 Audi 100. Do you happen to know if the plug is blue for my
car? Thanks for the vid.

kumbackquatsta says:

cheers, just picked one up. it was a green aftermarket cts. i think my cts
plug is black when i checked my engine bay. can i do this while the engine
is warm or is it better when its cooled down?

rawux1228 says:

Changed sensor but sadly same problem. Temperature stays at 60 C , when car
stopped it temp rises a bit. Shutting engine down and starting again gauge
shows more, but slowly goes down. Now going to change termostat, A TIP:
Open coolant cap to release pressure before you do something.

BenLunsfordKW says:

THANK YOU!

GaryKist_Automotive says:

np, thanks for watching. yea some are green some are blue, i don’t know
why, maybe the green dye was cheaper haha jk

GaryKist_Automotive says:

I’d say better to do when its cold. I never took the cts out when the
engine was warm so I don’t know what happens lol
