When I’m finished perhaps I’ll make a quick video. I have some mdf board
and am going to, when I have time, make just a simple amp rack. It’s going
span the width of my trunk up against the rear seats about 12 inches high
or so, I havent gotten all the measurements yet, and about 3 inches in the
front which will be maybe 24 inches from the seats. So it will angle down
towards the rear of the trunk. Then the subs will lay facing each other
close to the trunk lid. I hope that makes sense. I’ll drill holes in the
mdf to run the wires cleanly to the amps and cap. The wires will be under
the self obviously. I’ll carpet the mdf so it looks more professional. I
can’t guarantee it will look as well as I hope but I’ll do my best. My sub
amp is a Boston acoustics gt2300 run to 2 Boston g510’s, my interior amps a
Boston acoustics gt475 run to hertz components in front and coaxial in the
rear. This is ofcouse when I get the rear speakers and wire. Boston
speakers are hard to come by in my area and I’ve never listen to hertz.
Just wanna see what they sound like. The cap is just kind of a cheap cap.
It’s a cadence cap20f. I think that’s the model. Anyway with the dimensions
of the amps I hope to fit it all on the rack without leaving too much
wasted empty space on the amp rack/ shelf. The reason I’m doing it that way
is so I can lay my seats down and slide the whole shelf on to them in case
I need my spare tire. So that’s my idea anyway. Maybe this Sunday I’ll work
on the amp rack. Sorry for making this so long. Keep up the good work on ur
car. I look forward to see the progress it makes.

Just an update on my 01 a4. I finally got my power wire, system remote, and
rca’s in. Took an while trying to run 0 awg wire. Had to hand file out a
hole in the firewall. I only put in one set of rca’s due to the fact that I
haven’t gotten my others yet. They weren’t hard to run. As of this moment I
have my capacitor sub amp and subs in and still factory Bose. It’s a little
much. Just waiting on money for speakers now. In due time. That’s all.

Jared VanHorn says:

Right on man. Mine has the factory Bose system and I’ve been spoiled in the
past so for me, it’s not enough. Every car I’ve owned I’ve completely torn
apart and rewired. But Audi has made it more difficult. When I do dive into
it I want all the necessary equipment and tools and know what I’m getting
into before I start. I have just about everything except for wire,
capacitor, circuit breaker, and 2 sets of speakers. I’m going for six
speakers all together. Front 5.25 components, and rear deck 6.5 coaxial run
off amp. And rear door 5.25 off head unit just for a little filler. Since
the Bose has 6 why not make the most of it. Then 2 10 inch subs. Not sure
how I’m going to mount everything yet. I just want it in first. haha. Next
issue I face is what wire. 4awg copper wire, or 0awg cca, or just wait and
save money for the 0awg copper. I’m really on a budget. Haha. Sorry for
making this so long. It was good talking with u and thanks again!

Jared VanHorn says:

Thanks man. I appreciate ur response. I’ve done many installs in my day but
this Audi is special. Haha. No need to make a video but thanks. It’s been
an interesting while trying to figure speaker sizes and how to run
everything but I need to get the power wire through first. But thanks
again. I look forward to ur future YouTube works.

Jared VanHorn says:

Hey thanks a lot man. I’ve had my 01 a4 Quattro for over a year now and
havent found really any of reliable info anywhere. Haha. I have a
question… How do I get an 0awg power wire through the firewall and to the
trunk due to the location of the battery? I’m all about keeping it as clean
and hidden as possible. Any help at all would be appreciated. thanks
