Shock/Spring/Coilover Removal & Replacement DIY Honda & Acura

Shock/Spring/Coilover Removal & Replacement DIY Honda & Acura

Here is a pretty simple step by step instruction on how to remove your front and rear shocks and springs from any 88-91 Honda Civic or CRX. This process pretty much applies to any Civic from 1988 to 2000 and also any Acura Integra from 1990 to 2001.

If you need any help or have a question, leave it in the comment section and I will answer it promptly.

Great video man, I kind of knew what I had to do in order to put my ST coilovers on my CRX but I always watch a video of someone else to give me a better idea right before I get in. Makes prep work much easier, thanks!

Im getting skunk 2 rear lca's
And d2 coilovers in a couple months so I'm excite I have an 88 crx

Can I add a sway bar to it?

alex ruiz says:

For the 88 crx you just have to put after market lca's for 89-91 and you can use coilovers that are 89-91

Finally replaced my KYB/TEIN lowering springs setup with Truhart coilovers. I need to make a video because I got coilovers and a yonaka exhaust now. Would love to show you my hatch.

Were those generic ebay coilover sleeves? I have been debating on whether I should go with those or just suck it up and buy the ground control coilover sleeve kit they have on tru motorsports. I really don't want to pay 200 for something I could get for 50, then replace the springs later on when I get fed up with them. because in all reality all you want is the sleeves, with some nice springs, right?

Great video! Would changing the front shock/coils cause it to need an alignment?

I have an 86 Honda CRX and I cant find ANYTHING for my car. I'm looking for Coilovers, and a new front bumper. It would be great if you could help.

Ihor O says:

hey, I recently got coil over springs for my car, I have a problem… the driver side is bagged, while passenger side is at the height I want it to be… the driver side height of the sleeve is the same as the passenger side. but it's a lot lower… I don't know why.. friends told me my strut is blown, bought new one and put it in.. still a lot lower on driver side than passenger…

What's your brake setup? rotors?
