I remember how much more painful it was to remove this filter on the previous generation MDX (00-06), the filter was installed vertically, the entire glove box assembly needed to be pulled out, not just lowered, there was also a metal bracket in the way which needed to be removed in order to access it. This design you have is how it should have always been made.
