A great video! my 2017 MDX door lock got picked and cannot lock properly with anti-theft light not working. a quick question: can I still use my original keys after replacing this damaged lock cylinder? or the new cylinder will come with new keys?

Where are you located bro. Can I take my 2008 MDX to you for repair

@zhengwang6600 says:

Thanks for the video! Do you know if the parts also come with a new key?

Where can I buy a replacement? Someone tried to break into my wife's friend's car and I am trying to help. Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.

How do you get the cover off of the lock cylinder? I have a 2017 RDX that seems to have the same mechanism and I don't want to damage the cover.

Thank you so much for this video…someone tried to screw with my door lock and it's all jacked up…I just ordered the part and your video explains everything perfectly.

Great DIY video! I've a 2011 MDX and I'm hoping it's a similar procedure. I found out after coming home from a weeklong vacation that my battery died. Tried to use my key to open the door, but it didn't work. Since then, I've just unplugged the battery to make sure I can get back in after a long time away. Is it likely that the battery is still draining because of the bad cylinder lock?

Hey brother,,They did the same thing to my 2015 acura mdx but the door dont open from inside, i need to replace the same parts but cant get the door to open, any idea on how i can get the door open?

Looks like the part# 72185-TZ5-A01 is about $95. How much will it be for a locksmith to rekey to the original?

Any idea if this would work on my 2020 Acura MDX.

My keys were stolen and wanted to DIY changing the locks, it seems pretty simple based on your through explanation.

Hi John! Today I discovered the same issue as another comment below. I also have a 2017 MDX. Went to my son's 1st grade graduation celebration and came back to the car to discover my remote won't lock the car or remote start. Then i saw a piece of something sticking out of my door lock on the driver side door. I realized someone tried to use a screwdriver like device to crank the lock open. Acura is telling me (via phone) that it will likely require a whole new actuator and rekey and all this extensive stuff. However, I see that the door lock on the inside of the car above the door handle release, still tries to move open and closed. But it acts like its jammed or stuck. So if its trying to move, that tells me the actuator is working. The likely culprit is that the cylinder rod may be slightly turned enough to not allow the door to lock completely? Would you agree with my logic? If I were to simple remove the cylinder as you did in your video, would the car let me lock the door? I am considering buying the cylinder part and having a 3rd party locksmith rekey just the cylinder to my original key. What are your thoughts? I appreciate any and all feedback. I greatly appreciate your video.

Hi Huu

You video will save me lots of money. I have a 2017 MDX with the exact same problem. However, everything else works fine.. The alarm didn't go off. The only thing doesn't work id the remote starter and when I lock the car using the remote, the exterior lights didn't flash. I brought the car to the dealer and they said because the lock cylinder was damaged, the computer thinks the car is unlocked and therefore, the remote starter doesn't work and exterior lights don't flash when lock using the remote.
The dealer wanted $1200 to replace the whole unit, part # 06350-tz5-a01 and re-key the glove compartment lock. After watching your video, I think I can replace only the lock cylinder, part # 72185-tz5-a01. After I replace only the lock cylinder, do you think the remote starter would work and the exterior lights would flash when lock the car using the remote? By the way, how do you remove the cover surrounding the lock cylinder?

Thanks

Does the lock cylinder re-key itself for original key? or does the dealership need to do that?
