This little module was causing battery drain, I removed it. The part is about $200 or so but I dont use it so I will just keep it removed.

Great video, thanks for sharing! I had a parasitic battery drain which killed two batteries in the past few months so today I checked all the fuses by connecting an ammeter to my battery. I found that the current dropped from ~260mA to ~30mA when I pulled out the #5 fuse under the steering wheel which is tied to the radio (10A). I later found out that this is also tide to the HandsFreeLink (bluetooth module), so tomorrow I will be removing that. I'm certain it will solve the problem. Acura told me today they are charging $750 CAD + 1 hr labor to replace the HandsFreeLink (bluetooth) module. Total rip.
Thanks and I just removed it following instruction from this video. I had this problem earlier also during extended warranty and at that time dealer replace unit (may be 3 years ago). Problem surfaced again few days back when I did not start my car for more then 24 hours. Now I am simply disconnecting the unit and do not intent to replace it for now. Hopefully this will resolve my problem but I would not know for sure till I let the car sit for next few days.
I had my truck for 3 years. I chenged the battery 2 years ago. No it clicks when I try to start it. no engine turn over. itll work when it jumps for a day or say

Battery died intermittently, even with new battery. I got the compartment opened with help of this video and the module was very hot. I suspect this will fix it. It took me a while to understand that the top gray piece didn't come off and that you actually pull the entire top and back panel towards you. Thanks so much for this information.

Thanks so much for this. I just removed the HFL from my 2007 Acura using your instructions. Time will tell if it solves my battery drainage problem, but I'm optimistic, since I'm reading online that lots of people with this model car are having the same issue and this solves it. My bluetooth stopped working a few months ago and I haven't missed it. That was about the same time I started having battery issues as well, but I never related the two problems with each other until today.

There seems to be a problem with the solder joints on it. If you go on mdxers.org there's a solution on how you can easily fix the module yourself instead of getting it repaired for $$$$ at the dealership!
Can I just remove it and not replace it? Since I don't use Bluetooth anyways. Will that cause any issues without replacing it?
