@NokiaFCC, I have been looking everywhere for the warranty information that came with the kit, and I cannot find it any where. So I can’t answer your questions about what exactly the warranty covers and what it won’t cover. As far as going 190K miles before replacing it, that it totally up to you. Just know that if something does fail the engines are interference engines, meaning if the TB snaps or something fails the valves and pistons could touch, leading to a very expensive repair bill.

NokiaFCC says:

What does the warranty cover on this? If water pump fails and snaps the belt, I’m not sure it will cover valve and/or piston job… 😀 I’m currently at 155k miles on factory belt and I’ve read that you COULD go to about 190k. Would this kit hold up to the same kind of use?

@aaronac8, the OEM water pump is an Aisin water pump. I took one off an Acura TL that had 220,XXX miles in it, the bearing was about to go, but it was doing the job. So I have nothing bad to say about the Aisin water pump that is Stock/OEM for the Honda V6 J Series Engine. When I did this video I could not find any markings indicating who made it, but it felt of quality and was sturdy. If you can afford the Aisin WP, by all means go with it, but I have never had an issue with any Gates products.

@JPN850R Thanks for the information

Honda’s fluids have become unique and when they say “Use only Genuine Honda Fluid”, they are not kidding. You cannot put ATF in the PWS, no engine/gear oil in the MTX, Honda DOT-3 brake/clutch fluid. I’ve flushed ALL fluids except the engine oil, which you can do away w/aftermarket (I use Mobil synthetic 5W-20).

I’m the 3rd owner of a 2004 TL and the 2 previous owners didn’t do well.

I used AISIN (OEM) kit, which seems to do better packaging (each pulley is individually boxed).

Any concerns about the water pump in this kit vs oem

@buffalo, if the accessory belts have not been changed, yes it is a great time to do them during this service. Also if the coolant is old or has never been changed this would also be a good time to do a coolant flush, just be sure to use green coolant with this engine.

Nice, can’t wait for the install vid. It’srecommended that the accessory belts be changed as well, and a coolant flush right?
