The blower pack resistor controls the speed of the fan only, it will not prevent the climate control from turning on. I would check for power and ground at the connections to the climate control unit, if everything checks out, then it is likely that the climate control unit is totally dead

i would like to ask you a question. I have a 05 tl and the climate control is not turning on, check the fuses and they are good. Do you thibk is possible that the blower resistor could be blown and causing this problem? Thanks in advance

6speeddakota says:

No, I went to the British Columbia Institute of Technology and completed my first year automotive technician certification. I didn’t like working on cars for a job, so I decided to become a Mechanical Engineer and never looked back. Now I am doing my last year of my Bachelor of Engineering also at BCIT.

I pulled out the blower motor and tested it, it was bad, so I replaced it first. When the new blower wouldn’t work, I had to dig a little deeper. I also had to replace the motor connector too

khai nham says:

Sir, you go to UTI?
and do you just replace the lower pack resistor or the blower motor too?

6speeddakota says:

The used motor is a good idea if you’re trying to save money, but pay close attention to the connector on the motor, if it looks burnt or melted, it’s probably a bad motor. I would recommend getting the motor connector as well if yours is burnt and melted. Chances are that if the wires or the pins in the connector have touched each other, you’ve probably fried the blower pack resistor too. Feel free to message me if you want me to explain further, it’s hard to fit it all into a comment.

i have a 99 acura tl i just came back from the dealership. I found out my a/c doesnt work because the blower motor melted onto the harness. I was told it would cost $308 to fix it. My dad said i can go buy a used blower motor. Should i pay $308 & have acura fix it or buy a used one? Im a young women I have no clue on what to do @6speeddakota

6speeddakota says:

Your motor must be worn out, tapping on it will typically give the brushes good enough contact to keep it working for a little while longer. As for the O2 sensor, there really isn’t anything you can do for it besides replace it, that is if the sensor is the problem, and not something causing the sensor to sound the check engine light

pimpboy9009 says:

Oh ok ty i fixed it by tapping on it several times, miracle! but now i have oxygen sensor issue, 02 sensor downstream 🙁 is there any hotfix that i can do before i have to actually spend 86 bucks on a new sensor? thx in advance

6speeddakota says:

No, I did not have to take the glove box out, everything can be done from underneath. But, if you were going to replace the cabin air filters, you’d have to remove the glove box

pimpboy9009 says:

did you take out the glove box?
