At 0:45 you say an Acura has 5 cylinders? Really? Never heard of a 5
cylinder engine before.

Bob herry says:

+EricTheCarGuy 8:54 is that the driveshaft, the thing with the yellow
sticker? #Questions

Steven Thompson says:

i would have done the compressor while i had it hanging down if its
a cost factor i understand that but my view is if you hasve to
pull the part down to fix the other part on it do both parts haha
but great video and i enjoyed this

Gary Meyers says:

My car makes quite an annoying knocking sound from the engine bay with the
heater/AC on. Also when the headlights are on, it makes a whining type
sound. I drive an 06 mazdaspeed 6. Think the AC/heater might have this
exact same problem. but what would cause the whining sound with the
headlights on?

beeroosterm says:

It is damned nice to have air tools. They are often essential to completing
a home repair job. Zip, zip, zip, zip, zip. Nice.

karlos6628 says:

I have a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo-V6 straight—my compressor clutch
don’t kick in when I press the inside botton -when I take out and put in
the relay the ac clutch looks like it wants to kick in-no noise of any kind
from the clutch in the compressor -both high & low ac lines have Freon-any
ideas what is wrong people /because Erick never answer viewers
questions(not mine)thanks

MrAsus3571 says:

very common problem on the 02 impala also damn near a grand to fix though

GhostRiderDK2 says:

Safety glasses engaged 8:28 So good :)

karebu2 says:

Hi everyone,
I have a ’06 Honda fit and whenever my AC compressor kicks in, it sounds
(from the outside) like knocking. The noise is kinda plasticky in nature.
How do I fix that?

newyota1 says:

the bearing the clutch pulley can be replaced also.Need to press it out and
in.

MaxxFordham says:

Haha, pschhh, how many “manys” do you need?

henrik2k says:

id use the vice for both removal and insertion of bearing but hey, a hammer
will do it…. :p

Ryan Baldino says:

What if the clutch grabs when it wants? Sometimes it’ll stop grabbing.
It’s gotten to the point where I literally have to turn on the A/C and
when it doesn’t work, I have to pull over climb on the ground and manually
keep spinning the clutch with my hand until it grabs.

Steve Saephanh says:

my car makes noise at idle but when i press in the clutch it goes away!?
help :D

FoMoCo1 says:

Eric, what type camera are you using, it has great picture qaulity?

Bill McKibben says:

For installing the bearing in the bore, NEVER hammer or press on the INNER
race!!1 That is one way to trash a bearing! Could use a large socket or a
short piece of pipe and press on the OUTER race.
I don’t understand why manufacturers put things like AC
compressors/alternators one the bottom of the engine where all the dirt and
water are! Terrible design!

obieezx11 says:

i could still hear the noise

Garth Goldberg says:

Only 2 minutes into it so far, but it sure looks to be epic. That noise is
horrible, and given where the pulleys are, it looks to be a chore to get
to. I expect to enjoy watching the rest.

tbskirk says:

Yeah why did Honda do that for a short time anyway can someone explain ?
5 cylinder TL’s had 4 lug wheels while v6 cars had 5 lugs for this
generation.
Honda did the same type of thing for the 98-02 Accord and never did it
again afterwords. Any ideas why ?

Kevin Krause says:

My AC clutch has been shot since I bought the car 5 years ago… I just
spray white lithium grease into the damn thing and the sound disappears

AwakeDude911 . says:

if a car fall on Eric does anyone hear him scream?

mikco vilne says:

You don’t have to use a impact you could just pull down on the covering
while you turn the tension should get the screw out

carlo juancho funtanilla says:

great video this is exactly my mazda protege’s problem the sound though is
slightly different. It sounds like a metal to metal grinding. and the noise
goes away when I step on the throttle I guess when it spins fast it lines
up due to centrifugal force or something. thanks

Chris Wilson says:

How often should you start a car that’s not on the road yet? Thanks!

Daniel Lopez says:

what about a clicking sound?

Aldreth or says:

That car might wanna get that oil leak checked out

renodeify says:

This video is like a curse. I watched out of curiosity 2 weeks ago. My
clutch coil just went bad yesterday and now I am watching this video
again…

Ethel Eckman says:

Thank-you Eric. Very informative and entertaining! Now I shall take my
Izusu Amigo to a mechanic and sound like I know what it is he is talking
about. Wonder how many people get ripped each day cause they just don’t do
their homework? ;)

jewllake says:

thanks! I never really thought about how the A/C clutch engaged……. now
I know!

Bad Mopar says:

I was worrying about my A/C compressor health, but now I try the clucth
first. Nice tip Eric. Thanks

William Musgrave says:

One of the best video and narrations I have seen on car repair. Thanks
Eric you more than covered the topic!

WyldeMagiK says:

Wanted to say thanks for taking time to do these videos…I’ve been the
‘lucky one’ so to speak that fixes the family cars…but so many changes
over the years cars are more difficult to diagnose….Thanks for all you
do…

Bayer-Z28 says:

Years and years ago I used to kind of scoff at the techs who wore gloves…
But now…. My hands are so screwed up.. if I even so much as touch a dirty
bolt my left hand will start to bubble up within a day from an allergic
reaction. Nothing drastic, but it will itch like hell at first.

Nole P. says:

Perhaps: you did not mention when you installed the old snap-ring, you
already cleaned it when cleaning other things.

joseph Van Wie says:

The coil is bad in my 2006 sonata and I was afraid to
tackle it because I read the spacing tolerance is
critical. After watching you in this video I’m no longer
afraid to go at it. Thanks for helping me to grow a pair.
Signed, Joe the coil guy!

boopie distura says:

Liked your videos. Great stuff. Just a thought. If scotty kilmer says that

Tactician Craft says:

Cannot fix an annoying noise .Things I’ve done to my Dodge Ram 2500, 5.7
Liter Hemi.
1. Replaced the Steering wheel pump.
2.Replaced the A/C Compressor
3.Replaced the Belt Tensioner..
4. Replaced the Power steering pump Pully.
5. Bought break cleaner spray and cleaned off all pully’s just in case
Glycol got on them.
6.Bottom small Pully nearest the fan its a small one the back of the belt
rides on it cause its a smooth one replaced it . (This one was a strange
one though when I first replaced the Powersteering pump the original bottom
small pully was disintergrated I mean busted up bad,.. So far the new one
looks ,and spins great) This one still bothers me though can’t figure out
how that happened.
7. Bought 3 serp belts so far.
-I’v completely hit a brick wall Don’t know what else to do I’m not a
mechanic. The sound does sound like a pully when in idle and parked no
sound you can only hear it when it goes over 1000 RPM’s.and it is not
consistent. WD-40 does not help. A/C blows cold air and the sound does not
change when the A/C is on .
Power steering no difference in sound when I turn the wheel. Anything else
I can try any ideas would be appreciated.

Leslie Contreras says:

u need a laser pointer bro… watch the fingers

Rami Bekit says:

Eric is quite a dude. Good video, shows you how economically this repair
can be done.

Brandon P says:

i could hear some sort of ‘grinding noise’ when you turned the air con on
after the repair, would that of been the new part what had no lubrication
or just something else in the engine bay?

Martin Smith says:

That was a fantastic video! You should do this for a living.

Christopher Notellin says:

You rock Eric. Thanks for the vids.

Asphaltcowboy says:

Eric, I’m doing a flush on the entire AC system in my 03 corolla I’m
installing a new compressor and I know the system holds 7oz of PAG46 and I
can’t find any info on how much oil to put in the new compressor.
